After 20 eye-catching races and nail-biting championship battles, Formula 1 is coming to its closing stages for this season. This next race is taking us to Saudi Arabia for the first time to kick start a season-ending pair of races. What can be expected of the race in Jeddah?

FIRST FOR VERSTAPPEN?

Could this be the first for Max Verstappen? As he currently leads Lewis Hamilton in the race for his first-ever formula one title by eight points, for which he has intensely fought. But I wouldn't t mind the championship being decided in its last race and trust me, it is not impossible to imagine it being decided at the final race.

The upside to M.Verstappen is that Jeddah brings to reality the first chance for him to wrap up the drivers’ title.
As the title leader, he holds the advantage even as Hamilton and Mercedes amass the stronger package in the last two races, but it could be too late for them as Max’s only needs a top-two finish in this race to have any likelihood of being crowned. But if he fails to do so, by coming out third or lower, the championship is ensured to be decided in Abu Dhabi without any consideration of where Hamilton finishes.

The Saudi Arabia track ( The Jeddah Corniche Circuit) is said to be the second-longest track on the 2021 championship tracks at 6.175km, about 800m shorter than the first position spot. So will we be seeing a new Champion in Max or will sir Lewis Hamilton delay the celebrations? or even come through with a blockbuster to make it his 8th title at the end of the championship?

ANOTHER FOR THE KING 👑

Talking of winning, there is another winner in the like of Lionel Messi, who earlier this week won himself his 7th Ballon D'or taking him two more his closest rival in C. Ronaldo.

Messi, fend off the competition of Bayern's hitman Robert Lewandowski, Real Madrid’s leader Karim Benzema and Chelsea’s Euro winner in Jorginho to take the prize home and not forget the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who was among the 30 players shortlisted. CR7 has he's popularly known by fans alike did not feature in the first three for the first time in over 11 years.
Despite having a less remarkable season at club level with Barcelona, of which they finished third in La Liga and fell out of the champions league in the first knockout round.

For many alike, Messi was the favourite to take home the award after winning his first-ever internal tourney in the shape of the Copa America with Argentina earlier this year and helping Barca win the Copa del Rey final and he was also La Liga’s top goalscorer last season. Thus, Leaving my personal favourite Lewandowski a consolation prize of the newly formed Striker of the Year award for his contributions to Bayern success, even Messi admitted to this fact when making his winners speech. He said;
"I’d like to mention Robert, it’s been a real honour to compete with him,"
and also went on further to say what he thinks of Lewandowski claims by saying;
"I think France Football should award you your 2020 Ballon d’Or, you deserved it."
