Islamabad United vs Multan Sultans // 8th Match // Pakistan Super League 2022

The 8th match of the PSL 2022 was played between Islamabad United vs Multan Sultans yesterday at National Stadium, Karachi. In this high voltage match Multan Sultans beat Islamabad United by 20 runs and hold their first position on the points table. They won 4 matches out of 4. On the other hand Islamabad United won one match out of two.

Islamabad United won the toss and decided to bowl first. Multan Sultans started batting first. Striker Shan Masood played 43 runs innings in 31 balls including 5 fours and 2 sixes helped Multan for a solid start. Rizwan, Maqsood had gone early. On 4th wicket partnership Rilee Rossouw and Tim David made 110 runs just in 8.2 overs that helped Multan to big score. Rossouw scored 67 runs in 35 balls including 4 fours and 6 sixes and finally remained unbeaten. Tim David played an aggressive innings of 71 runs in just 29 balls including 6 fours and 6 sixes. Finally Multan Sultans set a target of 218 runs.


Islamabad United bowlers performed very poor. Most of them bowled very expensive except Shadab Khan though khan got no wicket. Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim JR each took one wicket.


In reply following the big target Islamabad United hadn't a good start. Striker Paul Stirling was dismissed early at 19 runs by David Willey. English hard hitter Alex Hales was the 2nd target by Willey for 23 runs. Then one by one came out and gone without any credible innings except Shadab Khan fight alone. Shadab played an outstanding innings of 91 runs in 42 balls including 5 fours and 9 sixes. Finally Islamabad United bowled out for 197 runs in 19.4 overs.


Multan Sultans bowlers performed brilliantly. Khushdil Shah picked up 4 wickets for 35 runs in 4 overs. David Willey picked up 3 wickets for 38 runs in 3.8 overs. Rumman Raees and Anwar Ali each took one wicket. Tim David was selected as player of the match for his brilliant innings.
