India vs Srilanka // 2nd T20 // Srilanka Tour Of India 2022

The 2nd T20 match of the series was played between India vs Srilanka yesterday at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. India won against Srilanka by 7 wickets and lead the 3 matches series by 2-0. Srilanka must need to win 3rd match to avoid whitewash.

India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Srilanka had a good start. Pathum Nissanka and Gunathilaka made 67 runs opening partnership in 8.4 overs. Gunathilaka was dismissed at 38 runs by Ravindra Jadeja. He scored 38 runs in 29 balls including 4 fours and 2 sixes. After breaking the opening partnership Srilanka continuously lossing wickets and lost total 4 wickets for scoring 102 runs in 14.4 overs. At that situation Dasun Shanaka came out and made 58 runs partnership with Nissanka. Nissanka played an wonderful innings of 75 runs in 53 balls including 11 fours. Shanaka played an aggressive innings of 47 runs in 19 balls including 2 fours and 5 sixes and finally remained unbeaten. Srilanka scored total 183 runs by 5 wickets.


Indian bowlers performed poor. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jusprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal each took one wicket. Bumrah and Chahal had economical bowling performance but others were very expensive.


It was very challenging for team India to chase down the big target. Indian striker Rohit Sharma was dismissed at only 1 runs by Dushmantha Chameera. Then Shreyas Iyer came out and made 35 runs partnership with Ishan Kishan. Ishan was dismissed by Lahiru Kumara at 16 runs. India was in huge pressure but Sanju Sampson came out and made a strong partnership of 84 runs with Iyer. Sampson scored 39 runs in 25 balls including 2 fours and 3 sixes. After Sampson's wicket Jadeja came out and played an outstanding innings of 45 runs in 18 balls including 7 fours and a six. Iyer scored 74 runs in 44 balls including 6 fours and 4 sixes. India easily chased down the target just in 17.1 overs.


Srilankan bowlers performed very poor. Lahiru Kumara picked up 2 wickets and Chamera 1 wicket. Most of them bowled very expensive. Shreyas Iyer was player of the match for his outstanding match winning innings.
