Mis aciertos en los pronósticos de la ronda de 32 en la Champions

Saludos a toda la afición futbolera en la comunidad de Full Deportes, en estas últimas dos semanas se dieron cita los 16 equipos que quedaron en los puestos del 9 al 24 en la clasificación en la UEFA Champions League que tuvo como novedad el nuevo formato de Liga y agregó una ronda más a las fases de eliminación directa. Fueron 8 los equipos que lograron avanzar a octavos de final que se cruzarán con los que quedaron en los primeros 8 puestos en la fase liguera previa. El sorteo se llevará a cabo el próximo viernes.

Acierto o error:

En el béisbol irse de 8-5 es un buen promedio. Sin embargo en el fútbol no siempre 2 y 2 son 4, aquí o eliminas o te eliminan. Creo que hay equipos, sobre todo los italianos que dejaron un pésimo sabor de boca a sus aficionados, ya que actualmente en la Champions sólo queda vivo el Inter de Milan y porque clasificó entre los 8 primeros.

Imaginen si les hubiera pasado lo que les pasó en la final de la Supercopa italiana de este año. Lo del Manchester City es preocupante, son quintos en su liga, eliminados en la Carabao Cup, en la FA Cup, y ahora caen estrepitosamente en Champions encajando 6 goles contra un Madrid que en defensa no tenía a nadie.

Mi opinión sobre las predicciones que fallé:

Es duro a veces asimilar que te equivocas pero nadie es perfecto. A veces pienso el por qué de las cosas y analizo que en el fútbol como en la vida se gana y se pierde. Empiezo por la eliminatoria del Dortmund frente al Sporting, si favorito a los portugueses porque ya tenían un proyecto consolidado a pesar de que su ex técnico Rubén Amorim ya no se encontraba al frente de los mismos y porque el Dortmund está de risa en su liga y en Champions a pesar de estar bien, no lograron meterse entre los 8.

Sin embargo, ocurrió lo impensado para mi, el delantero estrella sueco Viktor Gyokeres se lesionó y no pudo estar en las eliminatorias fulminando así las esperanzas de los lusos de avanzar de ronda ya que les faltó un referente en el ataque. Mérito por supuesto al Dortmund, y a su grupo de jovenes talentos que siempre le aportan a otros equipos en el futuro y llenan sus bolsillos con las ventas futuras de estos futbolistas, especialmente Guirassy que hasta ahora se va erigiendo como el máximo goleador de esta edición de Champions.

Los casos de Atalanta y Juventus son similares, sin embargo sufrieron de maneras diferentes. Comienzo por los de Bergamo, un club cuya defensa históricamente permite más de los que marca y en el partido de vuelta se demostró que sin su estrella (Lookman, comenzó en el banquillo) no son un equipo a considerar. Sus hombres de arriba, tanto De Ketelaere como Retegui estuvieron faltos de goles y eso obviamente influyó en el resultado.

Para el Brujas los aplausos, demostraron que no hay equipo pequeño en Europa y con el liderazgo de un canterano cule como Ferran Jutgla lograron avanzar a octavos en donde la tarea será más compleja pero estos muchachos han demostrado que no le temen a nadie. Por último la Juventus que ha tenido una temporada de empates y resultados inestables se quedó a deber en la Champions.

No aguantaron la presión del Phillips Stadium que explotó con el primer gol y luego de que forzaron la prórroga el embate fue más y más fuerte en apoyo a los locales, un PSV que no se escondió, que salió a pelear de tu por tu, que se dejaba la vida en cada balón dividido, esos son los clubes guerreros que todos queremos en la Liga de Campeones, esos pequeños que se visten de grandes como David cuando derrotó a Goliat.

A modo de conclusión, ya queda servida la mesa para los octavos de final en donde para mi de momentos hay hasta 4 claros favoritos, el Liverpool con su temporadon y un Mohamed Salah en estado de gracia, el Barcelona que no se conforma con menos de 3 goles por partido y siempre quieren más, el Real Madrid que siempre será el rey de Europa aunque este herido y nunca descartar al Bayern que a pesar de tener resultados inestables en su liga y a lo largo de esta competición siempre es un rival difícil y competitivo.

My Predictions in the Round of 32 in the Champions League

Greetings to all football fans in the Full Deportes community. In the last two weeks, the 16 teams that finished in positions 9 to 24 in the UEFA Champions League gathered, featuring a new league format that added an extra round to the knockout stages. Eight teams advanced to the Round of 16, facing off against those who finished in the top eight positions in the previous league phase. The draw will take place next Friday.

Hit or Miss

In baseball, going 8-5 is a good average. However, in football, it's not always true that two and two make four; here you either eliminate or get eliminated. I believe there are teams, especially the Italians, that left a terrible taste for their fans since currently, only Inter Milan remains alive in the Champions League, having qualified among the top eight. Imagine if they had experienced what happened to them in this year's Italian Supercup final. Manchester City's situation is concerning; they are fifth in their league, eliminated from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, and now they suffer a heavy defeat in the Champions League, conceding six goals against a Madrid team that had no one in defense.

My Opinion on the Predictions I Missed

It’s tough sometimes to accept that you are wrong, but nobody is perfect. I often ponder the reasons behind things and analyze that in football, as in life, there are wins and losses. I start with the tie between Dortmund and Sporting; I favored the Portuguese because they already had a solid project despite their former coach Rubén Amorim no longer being at the helm. Dortmund is struggling in their league but managed to advance. However, what I thought was unthinkable happened: star striker Viktor Gyokeres got injured and couldn't participate in the eliminations, crushing the hopes of the Portuguese as they lacked a key figure in attack. Credit goes to Dortmund and their group of young talents who always contribute to other teams' futures and fill their pockets with future sales of these players, especially Guirassy, who is emerging as the top scorer of this Champions League edition. The cases of Atalanta and Juventus are similar; however, they suffered differently. Starting with Bergamo's team, a club whose defense historically concedes more than it scores was demonstrated in the return match where without their star (Lookman started on the bench), they were not a team to be considered. Their forwards, both De Ketelaere and Retegui, were lacking goals which obviously influenced the result. Kudos to Club Brugge; they showed that there are no small teams in Europe and with the leadership of a former youth player like Ferran Jutgla managed to advance to the Round of 16 where their task will be more complex but these boys have shown they fear no one. Finally, Juventus, which has had a season of draws and unstable results, fell short in the Champions League. They couldn’t withstand the pressure from Phillips Stadium which erupted with the first goal; after forcing extra time, support for PSV grew stronger and stronger a PSV that did not hide but fought tooth and nail, giving everything for every divided ball. These are the warrior clubs we all want in the Champions League those small teams that dress like giants as David did when he defeated Goliath.

In conclusion, the stage is set for the Round of 16 where I see up to four clear favorites: Liverpool with their outstanding season and Mohamed Salah in top form; Barcelona who settle for nothing less than three goals per game and always want more; Real Madrid who will always be kings of Europe even when wounded; and never discount Bayern who despite having unstable results in their league and throughout this competition remains a difficult and competitive rival.
