Having All The Ball And Doing Nothing With It

For some reason, I’ve never liked possession stats. Don’t get me wrong, we all love to watch beautiful football but we all have our opinions of what beautiful football is. Some people enjoy watching tiki-taka and some enjoy watching counter-attacking football. If you support a Spanish club you will most likely be more attracted to the tiki-taka.
If you watch the laliga as I do, you will realise that almost all the teams are very good at holding the ball. When they come up against Real or Barca the story is always different because these teams have better players, but when these teams steal the ball back they hold it very well. I watch the premier league too and I love the physicality of the league.
Not most of the teams play football as the Spanish teams do. But then it’s always enjoyable to watch. Manchester City is sooo good at keeping the ball that a lot of people seem to enjoy watching them have long periods of possession just knocking the ball to and fro. I for one do not enjoy their matches because I don’t like what they do with the ball. I can say I didn’t like them last season but I seem to be enjoying them this season now that they have a target man.
What I didn’t like about them was the long periods of holding the ball and doing nothing with it. They could dominate for the whole 90 minutes and wouldn’t be that dangerous. At least until someone was brave enough to enter the opponent's box with the ball. I felt like they always wanted to walk the ball into the net and at times it was a worry if the team they were facing wouldn’t open up.
I seem to be deviating from the topic; back to it.
The World Cup has shown us a different side of some teams even though they have big stars. Some claim that the best form of defence is attack. I believe in having a plan and sticking to it until it is found out. We had big teams like Germany getting knocked out because they always wanted to be stubborn and hold the ball whilst doing nothing with it. Each time Japan turned the ball over against them they were even more dangerous than Germany was, and eventually, they beat them.
Spain, Brazil, Portugal, and Canada, have all had to face a team in which they had all the ball and did nothing with it. Eventually, they had to chase a game because the other team had a plan and it worked out so well for them.
Croatia is the one team that has taken me by surprise. Am not surprised they are in the semi-finals, am surprised at the way they play. They have very good players who can possess the ball but against Brazil, they didn’t do that. They knew their talent couldn’t match that of Brazil so instead, they made a plan and stuck to it. It was a brilliant plan and it worked out perfectly.
More surprises are on the way in this World Cup with Morocco and Croatia still in it. A lot of us would love a Croatia Vs Morocco Final but I see only one of this two reaching the final.

I think you are kinda right. I don’t think anyone would enjoy watching a game with 90:10 possession and the game ends in a 0:0 shots on goal.😂
possession football I think should come with some threat and possibly more goals. If you look at football now, people don’t really value that style of playing that much as to before.
😂😂You should see me when I am watching a Manchester city game. Even when am watching Real Madrid and they possess too much of the ball without scoring I get very angry😂.
I see no use in having plenty possession and doing nothing with it.
