RE: Alex‘s maiden voyage (#2📍Edinburgh)

🌄 Good morning (here) ☕, @actaylor! With you having now completed your first SSC post, I came back here to provide a ... "shorthand" ... list of points to help you further, as you get started. Yes, I could just wait for questions. I am being proactive, however, doing what I would hope you might consider, if our roles were reversed:
Every community in Hive has an "ebb and flow" to it, with which you will want to become familiar. And do what you can, within your IRL limitations, to fall in with it ...
Case in point - the #pinmapple, #traveldigest, #haveyoubeenhere (all linked to the same travel-related =>) community. They are huge and very well backed. One of the primary reasons I have elected to focus on creating content there (I am capable of writing on a number of topics, but ...). As a result, you can pretty much write 24 / 7 / 365, i.e. on your own schedule and expect to do okay.
By contrast #saturdaysavers? Not so much, as they are quite small ... The central focus is around the two weekly posts, from the eddie-earner (@ intentionally left off so as NOT to notify) account - 1st early Friday morning (here) from hoosie on the weekly rewards from accounts selected and 2nd (the "main event" ...) post of shanibeer. I am new to this community, but ... Most of the time she has written this on Sunday, but last weekend it was Saturday. At least it was the weekend and presumably, given the name of the group, her intent is to try and get it out on Saturday ...
So ... Falling in line with this, you will see I have begun posting my own weekly input soon after hoosie's, but before shanibeer's. That is not an accident. I want to make my weekly comment on shanibeer's weekly post, as soon as I can manage, once it is published. Why? The rest of the "eyes" of her community-building effort are focused on both her post and the comments of everyone below it ... Note well: This is an example of one post where even comments are consistently upvoted! 👍
So ... Your follow-up, from getting your weekly post out, is to put a comment into shanibeer's weekly post. If you read what she asks for, as well as follow the example of the OG (Old Guard) members, you want to always provide two things: 1) A quantitative measure of how your week went (some do only this and do not write a weekly post), and 2) Provide a link to your weekly post, which "fleshes out" #1. Beyond that, whatever else you might be inspired to say, based upon what I will now say in the next bullet point ...
I do not know of a concept of greater value to your future Hive blockchain success that to try to create comments on the posts of others which add value to their post. shanibeer's weekly post is no exception. I'll cite justclickindiva's contribution as one good example ...
That's it, in this comment. I'll reply to this one, with one more separate one, given what I have to say in it ...👋
Some of these new "virtual world" creations, @actaylor, are vast, with a lot of connections between them all - the so-called "network effect" ...
So ...
If you haven't already heard of it or maybe even already involved on there, you should be aware of the ... "synergy" ... between all happening on the Hive blockchain and various servers on Discord.
This app provides the foundation for its own "virtual world," in which many, many crypto projects find a "home base" from which to operate. The Hive blockchain and its various communities being only one small example ... [I believe Discord "started life" trying to provide a network for gamers all over the planet. But ... Today crypto enthusiasts use it extensively ...]
So ... An "all in" next step, if the above is new to you, is to create a Discord account. And get started in learning all about it ... Many of the social interaction limitations of the Hive blockchain are solved there ...
Last, but not least, if you choose to follow up. Here is a Discord invite link to the SPInvest "family" inside of which you will find a channel for #saturday-savers (its way of separating content in Discord):
https://discord.gg/7XnamYVWkH
With that, off I go into a new day. I hope you are having a good one there, on "the other side of the pond" ... 😉👋
Discord. Yes, I've heard of it - I've been meaning to set up an account for a while, so thanks for the prompt. (I think you mentioned that updates about the pinmapple hack were first voiced there...?) I've added setting up an account to my list of things to do tonight when I get back in 😉 Excellent, excellent.
Hope you have a lovely day over in the seemingly-always-sunny Cowboy State! 🌞
Okaaayyy...!! YES. I'd been scratching my head over the comments...
Thanks for being proactive and answering my silent query (-mindreader-); you've helped clear up my confusion, haha. So, a comment on shanibeer's post and an update post per week - well, I'll certainly try my best! Good to note that smaller communities require more conscious effort. Not in a negative thing...
I very much stand by your last point... even only having been here a short while, I've found leaving a comment here and there - actually reading content an instigating discussion - can really add value to a post. I like the link between comments and community-gathering, too.
