Welcome back to Self Defense Situation # 115. Every situation is different and you cannot fit one thing in every situation. What works in one situation, that might not work in another situation. When you fight for self defense, your move should be based on the situation.
When the attacker lifts you up, you are not on the ground anymore. If you have body balance and you are on the ground, it is difficult to move you or make you fall on the ground. It could happen if you have no idea that you are being attacked.
To defend yourself against attacking from behind, you have to be aware of the situation. If you just realize that someone is getting close to you with bad intentions, you can make your move instantly to defend yourself.

It's a good thing that your hands are open. So you can use your hands to strike. To stop the attacker from lifting you up, you can use your leg to lock the attacker's one leg. Then it would be difficult for the attacker to lift you up and move.
You can also use the technique that shows in the video. You can grab the attacker's finger and put pressure. As a result, the attacker cannot hold you anymore. You can do elbow strikes and kick. Make eye contact with the attacker. You can clearly see his moves.
