Kiss of the Dragon - Fight Analysis In Combat Perspective
When you fight for self defense, and you think it is going to be a fair fight, this is not going to happen. You might have disadvantages. It is not like a one-on-one fight. If you participate in a fighting competition, that's different. There are rules, and referees are there to make sure everything is fair.
I have made a post about How To Confuse The Attacker In A Fight - Self Defense. Your opponent can be a good fighter. So what you think would work, that might not work when you fight with a good fighter.
Today we are going to talk about a fighting scene from Kiss of the Dragon. You can watch this video on YouTube. In this video, you see Jet Li comes out from the elevator. He sees a guy in front of him. When he moves forward, he sees another guy behind him. And suddenly they both disappear.
A table is pushed against him. And they start fighting. The guy kicks Jet Li continuously. Jet Li moves back and tries to defend the kicks and counter-attack. The attacker hits him, and when he steps backward by getting the hit, another attacker hits him from behind. This is what you see usually happens when you fight against multiple attackers.
The first attacker is good at kicking. Jet Li pushes a table towards the attacker, and it does not end up well. When you fight, you can use your surroundings in your favor. So if you know your surroundings and how to use that against the attackers, you can defend yourself.
Jet Li tries but does not do well at the beginning. Now Jet Li invites the attacker to come and fight where he is. It is narrow. There is not a lot of space there. It's a trap for the attacker. The attacker cannot kick over there. Jet Li keep punching continuously.
If you observe the video from 1:51 to 2:21 minutes, you see Jet Li confuses the attacker. How? Did you see how Jet Li move his hand to the side of the attacker's face and punch him? That's not a strike. That move makes the attacker confused. And Jet Li hits the attacker. Finally, he is able to beat them.
You can use your surroundings against the attacker and make your move to confuse that attacker to penetrate his defense. Hope you will find it useful. Thank you so much for reading this. Please feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
Stay safe. Always be happy!
