Do You Like To See Ads On SportsTalkSocial?
This week is awesome! We see HIVE hits $0.22, it is almost double in price. Bitcoin keeps breaking ATH records and making the new record. Looks like the bull run is not going to run away quickly.
We think and predict something, that might not always happen. HIVE price did not follow the trends at the beginning of the bull run. Now things start changing slowly. SPORTS price was the lowest at some point. That time it looked like everything falling apart.
From there, it started changing slowly and moved forward. Now we see different initiatives in SportsTalkSocial and the way this platform moves forward, that's fascinating. SportsTalkSocial founder @patrickulrich has made a new proposal for advertising changes.
SportsTalkSocial introduced ads back in 2019. Ads income used to buy SPORTS tokens from the market and burn them. Unfortunately, it stopped in late 2019. Now this platform is going to introduce new ads where income will be received in BTC, it will be deposited in Hive Engine in the form of swap.btc.
This income will be used for the betterment of the SportsTalkSocial. I support this proposal 100%. By the way, in case you miss to take a look at Proposal to Launch @sportswitness for Hive Engine Witness, please read and cast your vote.

It'll be the same ad placements that exist on SportsTalkSocial.com already. The only difference is that now we'll be using a-ads for the majority of placements versus Hive Engine placements.
We really need to revamp the UI. Will be really hard to have any adoption with the current one. Especially if posting outside of the UI is taxed up to 50%.

One of the exciting parts about the majority of our ads coming from a-ads is that it will give us the best money known to mankind to pay for things from. I've spoken with a lot of developers over the years asking for help but most weren't completely interested in receiving SPORTS as their primary means of compensation. Since @sports-dev is the one receiving the ad payouts as swap.btc we'll have something available for things like that now. It's up to the community where the funds get spent.

Thanks for the support @tomlee! This will at least bring that back and give us new options for how we can pay for things the community wants.

Things like a better UI
Thought of partnership with external bodies and listing on other exchanges?
I'm completely for it and sure the community would be as well if those opportunities presented themselves. I'm personally most interested in what's being built on Hive Engine with Diesel Pools in regards to pairings. I think having multiple pairings to various assets in a decentralized system like that will be a great start and insanely beneficial to Hive's second layer ecosystem.
The UI I'd be interested in hearing proposals for. Right now we rely on Hive Engine's Nitrous so having a database system that allowed for light accounts / queued actions (instant posting) would be amazing. My biggest thing is ensuring that it's maintainable. We've lost so many code assets because we utilized code that wasn't maintained and was lost over time. If we are going to spend to get it I want to be sure there's someone that can maintain it to some degree if it's beyond my abilities to do for the community.
I hope those who are vast in UI developments would send in their proposals. I'd be more than glad to vote.
Cash inflow is a primary requirement to survive and execute different initiatives. If SportsTalkSocial can generate revenue, that is definitely a good thing. :)
I am fully in support of the add, for now, it should be shown to everyone inrespective of the amount of sports stake you have.

Patrick has many ideas that he has mentioned on his VIMM streams about attracting new people and improving use cases. So I think SPORTS has a good future.
I agree with that. I only made this proposal for now to get it approved and get the ads moving in the right directions. I'll make another proposal, along with a pull request, for the condenser to change when ads are shown after this gets approved. I just didn't want to muddy the waters here and include stuff that might delay getting it moving.
Yes, absolutely. Getting things done step by step is always better. We see how one initiative comes after another. A very exciting time for all of us.

I don't mind ads on SportsTalkSocial so long as malware isn't uploaded. I disabled my brave shields so it can help the community.
I can tell you that I will be sure that any ads delivered directly will be filtered by me personally to the best of my abilities. The ads displayed by a-ads.com I can't guarantee to but will be very happy to address reports to their teams if any arise.
I trust you and I know you will do your best. Just wanted to let people know that malware exists and things make their way through the cracks whether it is you or a-ads. Thus people should report anything that is out of the ordinary so we can check.
In case if we see anything unusual, we can report that. As @patrickulrich said, it will be filtered when it shows up. Thank you @jfang003 for talking about this and spreading awareness.

It'll be the same adverts that are displayed on SportsTalkSocial.com already. The only difference is that they'll be displayed primarily from a-ads.com instead of Hive Engine ads. The other diffence is that ad revenue will now be paid into @sports-gov and the community can decide what to do with it. If they want to use the funds to buy back and burn they can or they can save it to fund developers for site/community additions.

I think we need to make this ad-program changes. I'm a little worried that we are not closer to 51%. We as a community need to remind people to vote!
