World Cup 2022 - Argentina and France For The Finals?

The quarter finals have ended and I think this World Cup has been one of the most exciting tournaments to date because of all the upsets!

Earlier, I predicted the outcomes of the 4 matches in the quarterfinals, let's see how good/bad my predictions were!

My earlier predictions can found in this post.

  1. Netherlands vs Argentina: I think Argentina are slightly better but I personally like the team unity and how Netherlands have been playing. So I will pick Netherlands to win this match. [WRONG]

  2. England vs France: It has got to be France, with their strikers out on full force and they are one of the tournament favourites. England somehow are always so near yet so far. [CORRECT]

  3. Croatia vs Brazil: I would love to see Croatia win, seeing how they survived and overcame Japan in the earlier tie. But Brazil is way stronger so they will progress. [WRONG]

  4. Morocco vs Portugal: This is a very tricky tie. Morocco has proven at the match against Spain that they didn't come through by luck. Interesting battle for this one and I am going to stick my neck out to say Morocco. [CORRECT!!!]

Final score: Got 2 out of 4 correct. Not too bad. Amazing that I got Morocco correct! Hehe!

  1. Argentina vs Croatia: Croatia are definitely the dark horses this time and their experience and confidence in enduring long matches and winning penalty shootouts have helped them a lot. I don't think we are going to see the exact repeat of the World Cup 2018 final (i.e. France vs Croatia) so I think Argentina will advance thanks to Messi.

  2. France vs Morocco: Can Morocco win the World Cup? Hmm I think so far no countries have managed to deal with their style of counterattacking play. In fact only Croatia and Spain have held them to a draw after 90 minutes. France is definitely on another level and they can score. I have a feeling that they will overcome Morocco easily.

So that's all for my predictions! Let's revisit them after the semi finals to see how many of them are correct!

Still can't believe Brazil got knocked out the way they did :( Thankfully, I hedged my Brazil wager with France going all the way so there's still hope I make some money back!
