Last night, Saturday, August 19th, 2023, the wrestling world witnessed history live in Tampa, FL as fourth generation, 22 year old wrestling star, Ava Raine gets her first career singles match win in WWE at a live house show against fellow NXT competitor Ivy Nile (her 1st career win was in a 6 person tag match where Schism beat The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile).

Ava made her debut in WWE’s developmental brand, NXT in October of 2022, joining the Schism stable with Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, and Jagger Reid. She was not featured a lot on NXT’s tv shows which leads many to think that she has been doing more in ring training at the WWE Performance Center to improve her skills. She has made a lot of progress since her initially signing in 2020, where she dealt and worked through many injuries.

Her father says that Ava (Simone Johnson) is quoted saying,

“I had so much sh*t going on. So, I like to say me and Simone grew up together. We had a relationship where I was always gone, but we tried to keep it together. Now years later as she becomes a pro wrestler, it’s actually brought us closer together. So, in a way, it’s helped save that relationship too. In many ways, pro wrestling has been my family’s savior.”

Oh yeah, her father is WWE legend, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

This upcoming Tuesday, Ava is set to have a singles match for the first time on NXT TV against Ivy Nile once again. The match will be on NXT Heatwave.
