REACHING THE EDGE [Edge's WWE Contract Expires After This Friday]
Today we get more info about Edge’s contract in WWE coming to an end.
The actor, Grand Slam champion, Triple Crown champion, WWE Hall of Famer, and kazoo player who totally reeked of awesomeness had an amazing wrestling career line in and out of the ring.
Edge made his wrestling debut July 1st, 1992 and his WWF debut on May 10th, 1996 and his official WWF tv debut on June 22nd, 1998 on Raw as his loner “you thin you know me” crowd entering persona.
Edge was introduced to Christian in the 6th grade, but their 1st WWF on screen introduction was in 1998 as Gangrel introduced Christian as Edge’s brother and they both convinced Edge to join the Brood. Edge and Christian would go on to get their 1st (one of Edge’s 12 individual tag title reigns in WWE) on April 2nd, 2000 in the famed triangle ladder match at Wrestlemania 2000 defeating the Hardys and Dudleys.
Edge’s solo career was also full of great memories (especially the Rated R Superstar days) as he held 17 solo titles (including the WWE title 4 times and the Heavyweight title 7 times), won 2 Royal Rumbles, and was the 1st money in the bank winner.
He would retire in 2011 after suffering from several neck injuries that doctors said would prevent him from ever wrestling again. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012 and shocked the world when he returned in 2020 as he was a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble and ended up winning it in 2021 (the 2nd of his career).
2022-2023 we would see (what could’ve been a great angle but WWE creative and Edge couldn’t see eye to eye, mainly because of how cringe and shtty creatives ideas were) Edge join The Judgement Day stable with Damian Priest, Rhea Ripely, Dominik Mysterio, and later Finn Bálor. (After breaking away and going solo he would be drafted to Smackdown in the 2023 draft and be placed in the first round, triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship tournament that AJ Styles would win for Smackdown, and Seth Rollins would win overall from the Raw brand and making him the inaugural champion.
Now that he is released from his contract we have 3 major questions to ask.
- Will he join Christian in AEW in a managerial or on screen role?
- Will he have a retirement match and will it be with the Dudleys, Christian, and the Hardys?
- Will we see Edge in WOO someday?
