Recovery run | 11 days to go!
Hey all! In 11 days it is finally match day and I will once again run the NN Marathon Rotterdam (and hopefully get my revanche over last year’s result)
While I am very excited and feeling ready to go right now - I also feel that even in the last taper weeks I am getting stronger. The challange for these last few days will become balancing rest and grasping that tiny bit of possible improvement from training. After this weekend the focus will shift almost completely towards recovery and nutrition - but this week I can still make a little distance.
Today I went for a 10 km recovery run - which was to help my body recover from yesterday’s tempo run.
The benefits from my harder trainings are mostly visible in my recovery runs. Here you run on low effort but my resting speed has increased over time.
Last year I was a bit surprised by the weather during the Rotterdam Marathon. As that week was the first week sunny week of the year - while my trainingsblock was mostly at sub 0 temperatures. I went out last year in 2 layers of running pants (short + legging) which was a mistake as the temperature was well above 20 C that day. This year, I feel we left the cold days in februari. My last marathon ranged between -3 to 3 C. After that I mostly had sun during my trainingsblock! The forecast for next week is looking amazing - dry and around 14 C .

I imagine running with a lot of clothes and with heat, although that temperature of 20 degrees here we call it cold 🤭, all year we are at high temperatures, that when we get to that is a cold for us. We are moving forward and there are only 11 days to go, stick to the training plan, without getting out of it, good vibes 🥰🤗.
Yeah I can imagine that is still considered there! I would honestly feel most comfortable with roughly 4 degrees C during a marathon haha.
