Countdown to NN Rotterdam 2025

Hi all, welcome back to my #running blog, where i try to keep you up date on my journey towards the NN Marathon Rotterdam. This will be the 4th marathon within 1 year - whereas I normally do max 2 marathons a year.

With less than 40 days left I need to start planning:

  1. Peak weeks: normally I do 3 peak weeks and 3 taper weeks - but I am inclined to do 4 peak weeks and 2 taper weeks. Still not totally sure about it as it is risky.
  2. Setting a target race pace: while my goal is to run an average pace of 4:46 / km I would be satisfied with any time within 3:30:00. 4:46 should be achievable but some planning is in order - will I try to run that pace the entire run or aim at negative splits (where you save energy in the first half and push the second half to get the goal time) sofar my feeling is towards a slow (ish) start 04:55 for the first 5km 4:50 until 15km and aim for 4:35 - 4:40 for the remainder of the race. While in theory this has the best chances, the crowding at NN Rotterdam 2024 (or any massive marathon) can mess up your plan entirely.

For now I just went out and enjoyed the sun a bit. I took a route that is a little different from my regular trainingsroute - which was fun. Took an easy pace - not too fast just relaxing a bit with good music!

Getting my weekly total to 29km (with a target around 70-80km for the week!)

Happy running

That's right, I haven't run a marathon yet, but it seems like a reasonable plan according to your sporting aspirations, good luck 🤗🥰
