A Pitch and Putt Market Friday

I am always looking for a sport or athletic pursuit to pique minime's interest. We've tried soccer, basketball, and karate. None of them have stuck. It isn't the end of the world. He is a very active kid and stays in shape with plenty of walking and scooting; skating in the winter and swimming in the summer. But still it would be nice for him to practice a more structured and focused physical activity. It's more homeschooly and all.

While on vacation, we went mini golfing and he seemed to really like it; so I thought why not give golf a try. My skills are pretty sophomoric; the fairways of a golf course proper would have been too much for the both of us; but fortunately we have a very beautiful pitch and putt not more than a fifteen minute walk away in Stanley Park. An excellent place for the newbie golfer to learn. Yesterday began our journey into golf.

The days was near perfect. We set out at about 3:30, just after we had finished our academic studies, rented a couple clubs, and left the score cards behind. We finished the 18 holes in around 3 hours and this was letting a few others play through. It has been more than a decade since I played, but I did manage to par a hole, but most importantly, minime experienced success and is looking forward to doing it again.

Got a few hours and want a little light exercise, search out a pitch and putt near you. It is a great way to spend #MarketFriday. Be sure too to swing by ... see what I did there ... but be sure to swing by the @dswigle page and pay her and a few others some Market Friday love.

What a great idea! People don't always think of golf when they are pondering sports activities, but, I am with you. It is a great sport to engage in. My son surprised me by joining the college golf team, which I had no idea was very selective for the low profile it had. That is so nice to hear that he may have found his niche.

I think it is actually perfect for young people as they can usually fit in the time and energy to dedicate to it.

Cone on, Pryde! Look at his face! I would have to say he is getting a kick out of it. :) You are such a good mom, you always make sure he is getting all the experience for a well-rounded life. I can hardly see where he goes in life.

Thank you for taking us with you on your adventure in golfing. You will have to keep us updated on his progression toward making it his hobby!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

What a great afternoon, I love golfing! It's such a relaxing day outdoors with great scenery as long as you don't take it to seriously when you hit your ball into the water hazard. Beautiful flowers too!
