Working at my avocado plantation

Dear Friends,

In yesterday morning, I went to my avocado plantation to install the wall of the small shed, water pump and pipes. Before that I watered the plants; there are about twenty plants left although I had planted fourty of them. I have learnt some lessons - some plants stopped growing and remained small because I didn't cut the lower part of the grow bags when I planted them. Usually, the roots were curled and rotted at the lower part of the grow bags and it was good practise to cut about one and a half inches from the bottom of the bag. This raining season I will grow more and replaced those plants that didn't grow well. My plantation is only 0.33 acre and I intended to grow about 50 avocado plants in it.

I had not finished installing the pipes and still had to work on it the next day. I found that farm work was a continuous work and needed investment until the plants yield some fruits. For avocado, it took at least three to four years to start bearing fruits and giving income. So, until then, I would have to take care of them.

In the afternoon, I went to the meditation center to volunteer with building used-oil stove. Now, they had got the prototype from the stove that I had built and it was easy for them to build more and so now, I didn't need to help building from start to end.

Then, when I got back home, I tested the trencher wheel that I had built. It worked as expected - it could dig 4.5 inches trenches. I think it is enough depth to embed PE pipes

And I found that in my home garden, I have some one avocado offspring, and plants received from my friends started growing. In my home compound, there are plants grown by my grand father, father, mother and brother - avocado, crap apple, damson, banana, lime passion fruit, dragon fruit plants. There are some other plants too. And I think it is our responsibility to grow plants for the new generation.
