My Actifit Report Card: May 23 2024

Dear friends,

In this evening, I had to withdraw money from ATM; so, I walked to the ATM near the Big C because I couldn't find the Bangkok Bank ATM near my place. And I was able to record the walk only on the way back. I walked about one mile distance in total.

Today, there was no many activity except for going to the hospital for doctor appointment for checking up after the surgery. My brother's condition was good and he had to rest for one month without engaging hard activities.

In early morning, I reflected on Buddha attribute, diffused loving kindness and meditated for about thirty minutes as usual. By meditating, I just trained myself not to react emotionally to the sensations. I think you have heard about the Stanford marshmallow experiment, in which children were given marshmallows and checked whether they can stand the temptation to eat them. And it was found that those who could withstand it were able to manage well in their lives when they grew older. And by meditating, I am practicing to boost my stamina I think. Life can be full of ups and downs; and we need to be able to focus on our goals without reacting to the distractions. Actually, I wish I knew how to practice vipassana meditation earlier.

Those were some of the activities for today.
