My Actifit Report Card: January 31 2025......High Five Fridayπ£ π¨ππππ―πππΌππ΄π€ββ πΌπΆπβ¨π
Hello everyone π»,
TGIF ππ and a very warm welcome to my report. We are definitely getting out of January this weekend, hello FebruaryπΉ.
I trust your last day of January is going well π―, mine has been awesome and it's now that time of day to slow down and fill you in on how it went including the trending stories that caught my eye π.
Thank you for stopping by and let's get into it π¨.
So I began my day with a quick walk around the neighborhood. Another cloudy chilly rainy morning but I was dressed appropriately.
Then I was back indoors after about 20 minutes of walking ending up at the grocery.
I set out to do some house chores before settling down to some you tube videos and checking on trending stories on x.
There was some lovely sunshine π during the day for a while but by 4pm it was darkπΉ.
The evening saw me out for my final walk around the park before heading back indoors
So now let's quickly take a look at what has been trending.
Starting off in Gaza, the ceasefire holding as 3 Israeli captives are set to be released tomorrow while Israel will reciprocate by releasing 183 Palestinian prisoners.
Meanwhile the Rafah crossing between between Egypt and Gaza will be partially open. More than 6,000 Palestinians are due for urgent medical evacuation.
The Rafah crossing was seized and destroyed by the Israeli military as the confilict went on, EU is set to restart mission to monitor the crossing as desperate Palestinians seeking specialized medical care seek to leave.
In the other war, Russia targeted a hotel in the port city of Odessa with a drone attack π .Three people said to be injured in that attack.
Meanwhile, Russian forces are closing in on the Eastern town of Pokrovsk as they gain more Ukrainian territory.
Still in Europe, thousands of protesters have walked 80km from Belgrade to Novi Sad as they denounced institutional corruption and mismanagementπ. Protests have been going on for months following the collapse of a roof at the main train station in Novi Sad. Though the PM has resigned, it's not enough.
Across the pond, Trump is holding to his guns, imposing a 25% tariff on Mexico and Canadaπ. China gets 10% tariff too, this all kicks off on 1st February.
Experts saying the 25% tariff could tip the Canadian economy into recession and the effects will be felt throughout the entire economyπΏ.
However, Canada are not sitting still and will definitely come up with retaliatory measures against the stiff tariff, according to PM Trudeau.
Finally, DR Congo still trending as M23 rebels have taken over the town of Goma. Over 500,000 people have been displaced. The UN says over 700 people have been killed since Sunday, hospitals are overwhelmed with the injured as dead bodies remained strewn on the streets in some areasπΏ.
M23 rebels heading south threatening to take over the town of Bukavu and then head further south 1,500 KM away into the capital city of Kinshasaπ, but I doubt if they can get to the capital and capture it. It is definitely time for diplomacy and not more fightingπ―.
So that's about it from me, see you again tomorrow on an amazing Saturday or is it Caturday ππΉ. Until then, it's good night π΄ and Adios β€οΈ. Hakuna Matata π»π―
