TGIF 🍻🍹 happy new year and a very warm welcome to my world 😊.The weekend is upon us yet again, the very first one of 2024. I have had a great day and am raring to go with my stepping activities as well as share some of the trending stories I came across. As always thank you for stopping by and let's get things going 💨.
So as always my day began with a little bit of stretching then a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. That fresh morning breeze🍃 was so wonderful. A nice short walk then I was back indoors where I rested then got on with the little daily chores around the house. In between I caught up with the latest news and watched some crypto and youtube. My next walking came later in the afternoon getting some fruits and veggies then around the park. Then I was back indoors for the usual nap. I woke up feeling refreshed some time early evening. watched the news then it was time for the sunset walk. As always slow paced around the neighbourhood and park. Then it's been raining for a while😻.So that was the stepping and now let's quickly look at what trended in the media.
Locally, nothing much happening except the usual political shenanigans 😹, otherwise a quiet day.
On the continent, South Africa trending as Paralympian Oscar Pistorius has been freed on parole 11 years after murdering his girlfriend. He has served half of his 13 year sentence. He will not be allowed to leave Pretoria until his sentence is over in 2029🙀..
Globally, things are still the same in Gaza. Isreali military still targeting central and southern Gaza with airstrikes and heavy shelling😿.
The death toll has reached 22,600😭, UN warns 1.9 million at risk of alarming spread of disease.
Also trending, US secretary of state Anthony Blinken has stopped by in Turkey on his latest middle east visit. His fourth time since October 7.He will next visit UAE, Jordan, Qatar, Egypt. Not forgetting Tel Aviv and Ramallah. Seeking diplomatic solution to the ongoing war in Gaza.Let's hope for the best💯.
Trending in Europe, Ukraine has struck the city of Belgorod in Russia injuring a number of people🙀. Am sure Russia will be responding to that strike.
Across the pond in the US, NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre has stepped down🙀. His resignation comes days before a civil corruption trial against the gun rights group in New York.
Then, president Biden has kicked off his presidential campaign in Pennyslavania warning voters not to vote for his rival Trump. Its gonna be a showdown later this year😹
Finally North Korea has fired artillery towards South Korean islands prompting evacuations🙀. That's nothing new, as always attention seeking Kim jong UN is at it again, trying to show his might😹.
