TGiF 🍷🍻 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. The weekend is upon us and am starting to get used to August😹. I have had a great day. I am also truly grateful for this day, it's a blessing to be alive 💯. I thank you all of you for stopping by yet again. Time to wrap things up and quickly take a look at how my day has been plus share some trending stories. Let's get it 💨.
So as always my day began with a little bit of stretching then a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. That fresh morning breeze🍃 was so wonderful. Then I was back indoors where I rested then got on with the little daily chores around the house. In between I caught up with the latest news and watched some crypto youtube . My next walking came later in the afternoon getting some fruits and veggies. Then I was back indoors for the usual nap. I woke up feeling refreshed some time early evening. watched the news then it was time for the sunset walk. As always slow paced around the neighbourhood and park. So that was the stepping and now let's quickly look at what trended in the media.
Locally, nothing much happening except the usual political shenanigans😹.
On the continent, ECOWAS is setting up to use military force as coup leaders in Niger remain defiant 🙀. ECOWAS says it will close all land borders with Niger and cut off electricity supplies. The coup leaders now have two days remaining to restore the president back to power. It's about to go down 🙀.
Let's go to Europe, where Pope Francis has addressed hundreds of thousands of people in Portugal as unions went on strike🙀. The cost of living crisis is hitting the working class as prices of everything is on the rise, meanwhile salaries remain fixed😡.
In Ukraine heavy fighting reported in the Donetsk region as the counteroffensive against Russia went on. Rockets and drone strikes have intensified🙀.
Russia trending as opposition leader Navalny was sentenced to 19 years in prison for extremism🙀. Of course all politically motivated to silence him😡.
In the middle east, Lebanon trending as families of the victims of the Beirut blasts three years ago, protested seeking justice for their departed loved ones.
In India, relief for Rahul Gandhi as the supreme court suspended his two year conviction🎉. He had been suspended from parliament for mocking PM Narendra Modi😹.
Finally in crazy weather, extreme heat hit Iraq as temperatures exceeded 50°C🙀.
