Hello everyone, in the last few days that I have been on holiday in the Veneto region I have discovered by chance this beautiful village called Portobuffolè, a wonderful medieval village on the border between the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia regions.

It is very particular as a village but in my opinion it is a place that definitely deserves a visit from a traveller, of course it is located in the province of Treviso and is part of the association "I borghi più belli d'Italia" (the most beautiful villages in Italy), its history begins in Roman times In fact, its name derives from the Latin Portus that is river port and buffolè that are the buffaloes that were the typical river transport boats that once there were in Roman times and were used to transport people and goods

In fact, it is located just a few metres from the Livenza, which is a navigable river that practically ends near Venice and was therefore ideal for transporting goods from the hinterland to the lagoon.

It takes about an hour to walk around the medieval village and during the year there are events that enliven the village streets, such as the antiques market held practically every second Sunday of the month.

I wanted to give you a useful information in case of your future visit to the country, if you happen to be there when there is the antiques market the streets of the centre are closed, but you can leave your car in the car park near the entrance of the country at a cost of € 1.50.

As far as accommodation is concerned, unfortunately I have read that near a village there is no hotel structure so you have to stay a few kilometres away.

I hope you enjoyed these photos this post, see you next time.
