Sports and branding, a limitless combination!

Success sells

Last weekend I spent in an incredibly hot Milan. I went for a visit at the legendary San Siro or better called Giuseppe Meazza stadium. An amazing encounter with an immense theatre of football that has hosted stars like Van Basten, Gullit, Rijkaard, Maldini (2 of them), Ronaldo Gaucho, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Ibrahimovic, Rui Costa, Gattuso… and that list could go on and on!

But that’s not what I wanted to talk about. In the center of Milan I saw an eyedropping scene. A 25 meter high billboard of Max Verstappen in a and advertisement for Tag Heuer, a luxury watch brand.
So long, nothing weird. But then I noticed where it was hanging. It was on the sidewall of the Duomo. The mythical and beautiful huge cathedral in the very centre of Milan. 😁

No boundaries

When it comes to sports, brands and marketing, there are clearly no more boundaries. In a catholic country like Italy, placing a huge advertisement on a catholic symbol of the city. Well, that really shows that there are no more boundaries.
I al sure Max Verstappen doesn’t care, and Tag Heuer will sell more watches by this. But it needs questionning, where does this stop?

When churches and mosks sell their name to major brands lik
e stadiums?

Just thinking outside of the box here!

Sincerely,

Pele23

I guess there's nowhere to draw the line when it comes to advertisement and marketing these days. And all are meant to get the public to give them their money for something not that valuable or life-changing.

I hope you took some San-Siro pictures for Hive.
