Cycling season is over, welcome cyclocross!

Mud and dirt

Cycling is one of my favourite sports to watch, so I am always a bit sad when the season is over. But here in Flanders and Holland we have a surrogate to fill that void: Cyclocross!

For people that don’t know the sport, it is cycling but on rough terrain, and it is always in a lap system, in a way that the public can see the riders multiple times per race.

The cyclists have to ride through ditches jump over obstacles, climb stairs with their bikes. If you think about it, it is actually crazy. But it is immensely popular over here. And it is the birthplace of future cycling legends.

For instance, Wout Van Aert, Tim Merlier, Mathieu Van der poel, Tom Pidcock, etc… They all started in cyclocross!

So as of now, weekends are filled with muddy faces and dirty bikes again in the Low Countries!

Sincerely,

Pele23
