Spirits of Falsehood Are Geniuses When It Comes to Making One to Lose Identity

내가 뭘 잘못했는데요? 지금, 내가 뭘 해야 할지 모르겠어요.

What did I do wrong? I don’t know what to do anymore.

내가 왜 그들에게 미안해하거나 죄책감을 갖고 괴로워해야 하나요?

Why must I feel guilty or bad toward them?

지금까지 신앙생활을 잘 해왔는데, 이런 결과를 받아들여야 하지요?

Why do I have to accept this kind of failure despite my faith?

왜 이런 일이 자꾸 발생하지요?

Why do these things happen to me?

사람들이 나를 오해하고 비난하는 지 이유를 모르겠어요. 내가 왜 그런 말을 듣고 가만히 있어야 하나요? 왜 저한테만 그러는데요?

I don’t know why I’m so misunderstood. Why should I let those comments go? What do they have against me?

도대체 뭐가 잘못된 것인지 모르겠어요. 미쳐버릴 것만 같아요.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong; I’m going crazy because of this.

왜 열심히 해도 되는 일이 없지요?

Why am I not paid off for my endeavor?

열심히 살았는데도 부정적인 결과를 받아들여야 하거나, 다른 이들에게 비난을 들었거나, 별다른 이유 없이 마음이 어두워지거나 짜증이 나는 사람이라면, 위의 말을 무의식중에 내뱉기 일수일 겁니다.

It’s easy to say things like these when the outcome didn’t meet the expectation and endeavor, or when you hear negative comments from somebody.

말하자면, 왜 자신에게 이런 안 좋은 일이 발생하는지 몰라서 마음이 어두워지고 무기력에 빠지곤 하죠.

It’s also easy to fall in a slump and lethargy because you don’t know why these things happen to you.

그래서 사람들은 마음을 바꾸려고 경쾌한 음악을 듣거나, 여행을 떠나거나, 친구를 만나 고민을 털어놓기도 합니다.

Some listen to upbeat music, travel, or talk to close friends to get rid of that negative feelings.

어떤 이는 술을 찾거나 육체의 쾌락을 즐길 그 무엇을 찾기도 합니다. 그렇게 잠시 잊을 수 있겠죠.

Some look for drinks and other things of pleasure to forget their pain for a bit.

그러나 부정적인 생각을 넣어준 상황이 바뀌지 않는다면, 주기적으로 또 다시 암울한 생각과 울적한 마음에 젖게 될 것이 뻔합니다.

But if the situation doesn’t turn around, you’d be trapped back in the pool of negativity.

그래서 오늘은 그 얘기를 하고 싶어요.

So I’d like to discuss this today.

결론적으로 말해서 그런 이유는 여러분의 정체성을 잃어버렸기 때문입니다.

You’re in that state because you’ve lost your identity.

정체성이라고요? 그게 뭐지요?

Identity? What’s that?

이 백성은 내가 나를 위하여 지었나니 나를 찬송하게 하려 함이니라(사43:21)

the people I formed for myself

that they may proclaim my praise.  (Isaiah 43: 21)

위의 말씀은 여러분의 정체성을 알려주는 하나님의 말씀입니다.

This is the important verse talking about your purpose in life.

하나님이 세상을 창조하시고 사람을 지으셨다는 것을 잘 알고 계실 겁니다.

You know well God has created this world and people.

사람을 창조하신 이유는 하나님께서 영광과 찬양, 경배와 감사를 받기 위해서이죠.

The reason He created people is for them to worship, praise, and thank Him.

하나님을 모르는 세상 사람이야 성경말씀을 들을 귀가 없겠지만, 하나님을 믿고 교회마당을 밟는 여러분은 그 사실을 믿지 않습니까?

Worldly people don’t have the ears to listen to God’s word, but shouldn’t YOU believe in it, as Christian?

여러분이 이 땅에 태어난 이유는 하나님을 찬양하며 영광을 돌리기 위해서입니다.

You are born because you were built to praise and worship Him.

그래서 입만 열면 하나님을 향해 주님(주인님)이라고 부르지 아니합니까?

Isn’t that why all of us call God our Lord?

말하자면 여러분은 하나님의 종에 불과한 신분이라는 것을 고백하는 셈이죠.

Basically, we all confess that we are mere servants of God.

그렇다면 여러분의 정체성을 항상 잊지 않고 기억하면서, 자신을 지으신 창조주의 목적에 걸맞게 살아야 하지 않겠습니까?

Then you should live according to the purpose of your life without ever forgetting, right?

그러나 대부분의 크리스천들은 교회에서 정한 종교의식에 참석하고, 목사들이 권유하는 희생적인 신앙생활을 하는 것으로 자신의 의무를 다했다고 생각하고 있습니다. 그리고는 자신이 주인이 되어 살아가고 있죠.

But most Christians believe they’ve done their work when they diligently attend church services. Then they go about their day with their own will.

그래서 모든 생각을 자기중심적으로 생각하고, 자신의 뜻에 맞지 않으면 화를 내고, 자신의 감정과 느낌에 충실하게 반응하고 있어요.

So they become self-centered and act based on their feelings and thoughts; if something goes wrong, they get upset and angry.

그 어디에도 하나님의 뜻이란 없습니다. 오로지 자기 자신밖에 없죠.

There is no God’s will anywhere; there is only one’s own will and greed.

그러면서 입만 열면 주여 주여 하고 있으니 가증스럽지 아니한가요?

Isn’t it just despicable to see people saying, “Lord, Lord!”?

그 이유는 미혹의 영이 여러분의 머리를 타고앉아 자신의 생각을 넣어주며 정체성을 잃게 하고 있기 때문입니다.

Spirits of Falsehood make you lose your identity by filling your head with different thoughts.

즉 자신의 주인이 하나님이시며, 모든 생각이 하나님의 뜻인지 분별하고, 아니라면 쓰레기통에 쳐 넣어야 합니다.

So you must remember that God is your Lord; you need to find which thoughts are from God and throw out the ones that aren’t from Him.

그게 종의 모습입니다. 그러나 대부분의 크리스천은 그럴 생각이 없죠.

That’s the ideal action of a servant; but most Christians are not interested in doing so.

교회에 와서도 자신이 주인이 되어 살아갑니다.

They live on their own, even in church.

그러면서 자신의 생각을 따르지 않으면 분노와 짜증을 터뜨리며, 자신의 감정과 느낌에 반응하며 살아가고 있으니 기가 막힌 일입니다.

So they live as their own creation, getting angry and resentful if things don’t work out as how they’d like.

이 시대의 미혹의 영은 돌이나 쇠로 만든 우상에게 절하거나 섬기라고 하지 않습니다.

Spirits of falsehood of the modern day do not urge people to worship or bow down to gold statues.

대신, 자신을 우상으로 섬기라고 속삭이고 있는 중입니다. 또한 자신의 육체를 즐겁게 하고 만족을 채워주는 돈을 섬기라고 유혹하고 있습니다.

But they whisper into people to believe in themselves; they urge people to follow pleasure and worship money.

그래서 하루 종일 여러분의 생각 속에는 하나님의 뜻이란 없죠.

There is no such thing as God’s will inside you

오직 자기생각, 자기 마음, 자기감정으로 이루어진 자기만이 있을 뿐입니다.

Only thing left is yourself--your thoughts, your mind, and your feelings.

너는 이것을 알라 말세에 고통하는 때가 이르러 사람들이 자기를 사랑하며 돈을 사랑하며(딤후3:1,2)

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, (2 Timothy 3: 1-2)

여호와께서 하늘에서 굽어보사 모든 인생을 살피심이여 곧 그가 거하시는 곳에서 세상의 모든 거민들을 굽어살피시는도다 그는 그들 모두의 마음을 지으시며 그들이 하는 일을 굽어살피시는 이로다(시33:13~15)

From heaven the Lord looks down

and sees all mankind;

14 from his dwelling place he watches

all who live on earth—

15 he who forms the hearts of all,

who considers everything they do.  (Psalm 33: 13-15)

왜 여러분의 마음이 어두워지고 하는 일마다 되는 일이 없으며, 짜증과 분노와 죄책감과 답답한 마음으로 고통 받아야 하느냐고요?

Why must you suffer from failures and put yourself into agony and resentment?

그것은 여러분의 마음과 영혼과 육체를 지으신 주인의 목적에 맞게 살고 있지 않기 때문입니다.

Because you are not living according to the actual purpose Lord has created for you.

시험이라는 단어는 헬라어로 페이라죠인데, 이 말은 유혹이라는 뜻을 같이 가지고 있어요.

“Teest” comes from the Greek word, “peirazo,” which also means to tempt.

시험에 들었다는 것은, 테스트에서 떨어졌다는 뜻으로서 죄에 걸려 넘어졌다는 의미이기도 합니다.

“Being tempted” means you have failed the test; it means you have stumbled upon sins.

그렇다면 누가 테스트하나요? 바로 하나님이십니다.

Who tests you? God Himself.

하나님은 믿음이 있는지를 테스트를 하기 위하여 미혹의 영을 통해 유혹하게 허락하신 겁니다.

He allowed spirits of falsehood to tempt you in order to test your faith.

이 테스트는 항상 자신의 정체성을 확인하며, 종으로서 주인의 뜻에 충성하며 살고 있는지 확인하시는 것이죠.

This test is done for God to see if you live according to God’s will.

그러나 거의 대부분의 크리스천은 이 테스트 결과가 나쁩니다.

Most Christians fail the test.

그러나 아무도 제 주장을 받아들이지 않을 겁니다.

But no one will take my claim seriously.

자신이 신앙고백을 했으며, 그동안 교회예배에 열심히 다니고 있다면서 말이죠.

The reason is simple; they believe they go to church regularly and have accepted Jesus.

또한 그들이 마음에 하나님 두기를 싫어하매 하나님께서 그들을 그 상실한 마음대로 내버려 두사 합당하지 못한 일을 하게 하셨으니(롬1:28)

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. (Romans 1: 28)

여러분의 마음의주인은 누구입니까?

Who is the Lord of your heart?

하나님이라면 항상 하나님 생각으로 가득차 있어야 하겠고, 모든 생각이 하나님의 뜻에 합당한지 분별하면서 받아들여야 하지 않을까요?

If God is your Lord, your mind should be full of thoughts about God and only accept thoughts given to you by Him.

그러나 그런 생각은 안중에도 없이, 오직 자신이 주인이 되어 자기 생각에 맞추어서 받아들이고 있죠.

But nope, there is no such thing. People become their own Lords and accept everything according to their standards.

또한 교회에 와서조차 하나님을 만날 생각이 없으니 기가 막힌 일입니다.

It’s just amazing these people don't’ think about meeting God even in church.

교회에 다니는 목적도 자신의 삶을 윤택하게 하는 세속적인 축복을 얻고자 하며, 이러한 자신의 목적에 맞지 않으면 불평과 원망, 낙심과 절망에 파묻혀 건조하고 냉랭한 영혼으로 고단하고 팍팍하게 살아가고 있어요.

Only reason these people come to church is to ask god for worldly blessings; they get bitter and resentful when they don’t get what they asked.

여러분의 영혼의 주인이 하나님이시라면 환경과 상황에 상관없이 평안과 기쁨이 넘쳐나야 합니다.

If your true Lord is God Himself, you should be happy and at peace, no matter what situation you’re in.

그러나 머릿속이 쓰레기통 같다면, 당신은 하나님을 주인이 아니라 미혹의 영이 넣어주는 생각을 받아들이는 귀신의 포로로 살고 있기 때문이예요.

But if you feel like your head is in a world of chaos and misfortune, that is because you accepted spirits of falsehood as your lord and opened our mind to what they whisper to you.
