Hola, querido hiver.
La actividad física en general no me gusta. Nunca he ido al gimnasio, excepto en una breve época en la que me inicié en la halterofilia y que da para un post aparte, jajaja. Antes de que me imagines toda musculosa, te aviso de que apenas duré unos meses porque gracias a esos entrenamientos detectaron que tenía escoliosis y, como consecuencia, tuve que olvidarme de la idea de levantar pesos. De lo único que me dio tiempo fue de aprender la técnica.
A pesar de lo anterior, sí que hay algo que me encanta: caminar, y si puede ser por la naturaleza, mejor. Si me lees con asiduidad ya sabrás de mis paseos por el parque cuando hace buen tiempo. Es mi forma de replicar en mi actividad diaria algo similar al senderismo. Andar y observar las plantas, escuchar los sonidos de mis pisadas sobre la tierra y el canto de los pájaros, oler ese aroma inconfundible del monte.
Las mejores caminatas que di fueron entre los diez y los quince años, cuando iba de campamentos en el mes de julio. Llegamos a hacer algunas con bastante desnivel, que cargados como íbamos con las mochilas y bajo el calor sofocante en las zonas sin vegetación, suponían retos a superar que merecían la pena cuando alcanzábamos nuestro destino. Los monitores siempre buscaban lugares con encanto en el que pudiéramos refrescarnos en algún riachuelo o poza. El Pirineo aragonés está plagado de ellos.
Hasta hace unos años he mantenido esta forma de hacer ejercicio, cambiando los amigos por mi familia. Con el buen tiempo hemos procurado hacer excursiones para conocer paisajes y bellezas naturales escondidas. Ahora tendremos que hacer los circuitos más sencillos y cortos por la avanzada edad de nuestro perrito, pero no importa mientras podamos disfrutarlos juntos.

Mi reflexión
Me alegra sobremanera ser consciente de mis progresos en el aspecto que trata la cita estoica del día. Defiendo mi tiempo y atención de manera cada vez más enconada, sin importarme quién sea el demandante. Por supuesto, estoy cuando tengo que estar acompañando a quien debo, pero ya no caigo en la trampa de decir que sí a todo lo que se me ofrece. Ya no tengo miedo de que me dejen sola porque soy yo quien elige estarlo y lo disfruto.
He llegado a un punto en el que los actos sociales se han convertido en carentes de significado para mí. Prefiero encuentros más íntimos, con una o dos personas. Mantener conversaciones reales y no intercambio de preguntas y respuestas vacías. Pude comprobarlo en el velatorio de mi abuela, donde tuve que salir varias veces de la sala para que me diera el aire y para dejar de sentirme observada y juzgada en cada gesto.
Pienso que ya no puedo sentir la vergüenza por la que pregunta Epicteto por la sencilla razón de que mi entendimiento está guardado en lugar seguro. Si alguien pretendiera alterarlo, desde luego le voy poner fácil conseguirlo. Eso es un éxito tremendo para mí, algo que me alegra y que con la práctica de mi reflexión diaria se hace cada vez más fuerte.

Hi, dear hiver.
I don't like physical activity in general. I've never been to the gym, except for a brief period when I started weightlifting, which is enough for a separate post, hahaha. Before you imagine me all muscular, I should warn you that I only lasted a few months because thanks to those training sessions they detected that I had scoliosis and, as a consequence, I had to forget about lifting weights. The only thing I had time for was to learn the technique.
Despite the above, there is one thing I do love: walking, and if it can be in nature, all the better. If you read me regularly, you will already know about my walks in the park when the weather is nice. It's my way of replicating in my daily activity something similar to hiking. Walking and observing the plants, listening to the sounds of my footsteps on the ground and the birds singing, smelling that unmistakable aroma of the forest.
The best hikes I did were between the ages of ten and fifteen, when I went camping in July. We got to do some of them with quite a steep slope, which, loaded as we were with our backpacks and in the sweltering heat in the areas without vegetation, were challenges to overcome that were worthwhile when we reached our destination. The instructors always looked for charming places where we could cool off in a stream or a pool. The Aragonese Pyrenees are full of them.
Until a few years ago I kept this way of exercising, exchanging my friends for my family. With the good weather we have tried to go on excursions to discover hidden landscapes and natural beauties. Now we will have to make the circuits easier and shorter because of our dog's advanced age, but it doesn't matter as long as we can enjoy them together.

My reflection
I am very happy to be aware of my progress in the aspect covered by the stoic quote of the day. I defend my time and attention more and more fiercely, no matter who is demanding it. Of course, I am there when I have to be, accompanying whom I must, but I no longer fall into the trap of saying yes to everything that is offered to me. I am no longer afraid of being left alone because I am the one who chooses to be alone and I enjoy it.
I have reached a point where social events have become meaningless to me. I prefer more intimate encounters, with one or two people. Having real conversations and not exchanging empty questions and answers. I saw this at my grandmother's wake, where I had to leave the room several times to get some fresh air and to stop feeling watched and judged at every gesture.
I think I can no longer feel the shame that Epictetus asks about, for the simple reason that my understanding is safely stored away. If anyone should seek to alter it, I shall certainly make it easy for him to do so. That is a tremendous success for me, something I am happy about and which, with the practice of my daily reflection, becomes stronger and stronger.

One of the best things you can do if you have scoliosis, (as I do as well) is walking or hiking!😄
I think even without this problem it is much easier on your feet and legs and give you a good aerobic workout!

If you also have scoliosis, the specialists will have recommended swimming as the best workout. They are right, but it takes more effort on top of the little motivation it gives me.
On the other hand, I can spend hours walking or hiking and, in addition to the aerobic workout, I gain mental relaxation.

I really love going for walks and hiking too. I have a few places planned already for when we get some good weather. We don't have a dog, but I know that it is a great activity to do with them too.
The dog is not compulsory, hehe. With his company you can enjoy it in a different way. It's fun to see them happy and active, but they are also a responsibility that limits the experience a little.
