Mi Diario Actifit: 24 enero 2023 // My Actifit Report Card: January 24 2023
Hola, querido hiver.
ENGLISH VERSION
Hi, dear hiver.
It has been more than a month since I introduced this new format to my daily activity reports. It is time to take stock of how they have evolved.
I like this first part where I ramble a bit on my own and I feel comfortable with it. It's a good way to do a mental dump and get my brain clear of the punchbowl. Ready to use for the day, hehe.
I find the stoic quotes accompanied by the respective reflection to be the perfect complement to the previous mind dump. It gives me a little pill of wisdom and the opportunity to reflect on it. A minimal but continuous dose of learning; I internalise the concepts and make them my own without even realising it.
Doubts arise with the log. As I have a fairly fixed routine, I find it boring to write almost the same thing every day. I have to think about it a bit more because I can't decide to do away with it either. I like to keep a record in the blockchain of the less usual events.
Stoic quote of the day
I owe it to Rustic to have understood the need to... read with reflection, without being satisfied with a superficial notice of the writings; not to give easy assent to people who chat about everything out of purpose.
Marcus Aurelius.
My reflection
Two thousand years ago they already knew it. Twenty centuries later we insist on multitasking.
I'm glad I've started to move away from brief and continuous stimuli. I have just started with what I read. My curatorial duties already provide me with a lot of medium to long-form information, so I have eliminated almost all my subscriptions to newsletters and blogs.
The time I gain from the latter I invest in reading books. I want to do what Marcus Aurelius suggests: go deeper and not just scratch the surface.
When I read a book, my problem is to abandon it in the rare case that I don't like it. This is happening to me now with one that is a reference in its field and is cited in many of the sources I have read or listened to. It's getting on my nerves and I don't feel like picking it up, so I'm reading less. I'll give it one last chance and if I'm not hooked, I'll start a new one. Time is scarce and the knowledge to be acquired is numerous.
Log of the day
The highlight of today is that I had a breast check-up. A few years ago I had a cyst removed and since then I go every year to have it checked. Everything was fine, so I was very happy.
As if I wasn't nervous enough about the medical appointment, my husband had a small accident at work and was sent home with more than half a day to go. This threw me off even more than I was already and I spent the whole morning absent-minded, messing up on silly things and with my nerves on edge.
In the afternoon, once everything had been resolved, I relaxed and my mind was not occupied with anything productive. Tomorrow, with the usual rhythm, I hope to get back on track.
Thanks for being here.
