Tercer partido a domicilio para los de Ancelotti y tercera victoria; en esta ocasión, bastante sufrida ante un Espanyol que explotando sus herramientas supo plantar cara al conjunto merengue y le hizo sudar la gota gorda hasta el final.
El arranque de las acciones en Cornellá fue placido para la visita; la oncena de Ancelotti tuvieron la posesión de la pelota y supieron marcar pronto en la figura de un electrizante Vinícius. Gran combinación de Tchouameni con Kroos, el alemán devolvió al francés el esférico y el nuevo mediocentro defensivo del Madrid filtró una bola clínica para Vini que conectó de maravilla ante la salida de Lecomte y la barrida de Calero para adelantar a la visita. 1-0 al minuto 12 del encuentro.
Third away game for Ancelotti's side and third win; on this occasion, a hard-fought victory against an Espanyol side who were able to put up a good fight against the Merengues and made them sweat it out until the end.
The start of the game in Cornellá was a pleasant one for the visitors; Ancelotti's side had possession of the ball and were able to score early on through an electrifying Vinícius. A great combination between Tchouameni and Kroos, the German gave the ball back to the Frenchman and Madrid's new defensive midfielder played a clinical ball to Vini who connected beautifully in front of Lecomte and Calero's dive to give the visitors the lead. 1-0 in the 12th minute of the match.

Y en toda la primera mitad solamente hubo un partido, aquel que los merengues deseaban; los de Ancelotti campaban a sus anchas ante un Espanyol que ofrecía poco y nada. Los periquitos tuvieron 17 salidas por solo 7 fichajes para la presente campaña son un equipo en construcción y eso se nota.
El Madrid tuvo en Kroos y Modric a los maestros de orquesta de siempre, en Tchouameni encontró al nuevo centinela del medio campo con mucho mayor proyección ofensiva que aquel celebre brasileño que con tanto redito le precedió y que le ha dejado un hueco complejo de llenar en Chamartín. En Vinicíus hubo ese factor incontenible y en Alaba la prueba de emplearle como lateral para confiar en Rüdiger-Militao como pareja en la central. Benzema fue casi inedito en la primera parte, como si estuviera reservándose para el momento oportuno.

El Real Madrid ha encajado al menos un gol en cada uno de sus últimos 8 encuentros como visitante en LaLiga.
El empate sobre el descanso pareció haber sacudido al Real Madrid y agitado en efervescencia al Espnayol que en el segundo tiempo se mostró mucho mejor, más combativo e incluso obligó a Thibaut Courtois a sostener -como en mil otras batallas- a su equipo.

La lucha del Espanyol fue más que meritoria ante el campeón que supo sufrir, e hizo gala de uno de esos canticos que llevan como un escudo de armas en el devenir de su futbol: “Hasta el final vamos Real”. El primer pinchazo de la temporada estaba al caer cuando un magistral centro de Rodrygo encontró la llave del triunfo dónde suele encontrarse siempre en este Real Madrid, en Karim Benzema que cerró la pinza para hacer el 1-2.
Y ya en el añadido, tras un largo chequeó en el VAR por la patada de Lecomte sobre Ceballos que le había ganado el esférico, Melero López pitó falta en la boca del área, echó al guardameta para que el capitán Leandro Cabrera de forma anecdótica se calzara los guantes y el suéter de su compañero y recibiera el tercer tanto merengue que representaba el doblete de Karim Benzema y la tercer cosecha de tres puntos en el tercer encuentro al hilo fuera del Bernabéu al que por fin volverá el conjunto blanco en la jornada 4 para recibir al Betis.
