Half an hour earlier made all the difference. The streets were nearly empty, and the palace gardens felt like a private retreat. The sunrise painted the sky in soft pastels, while the crisp morning air hovered just above freezing, only to warm up nicely beyond ten degrees later. I took the usual loop around Luiseninsel, pausing by the water for breathwork and meditation. A swan couple kept me company and dug around for breakfast. Otherwise, nothing out of the ordinary, no decorations on the queen‘s bust today, no fresh offerings at the hollow tree altar. Some things don’t need spectacle to be special.

Eine halbe Stunde früher machte eine Menge aus. Kaum Leute unterwegs, und der Schlosspark fühlte sich wie ein privates Refugium an. Die Morgensonne tauchte den Himmel in sanfte Pastelltöne, die Luft war knapp über dem Gefrierpunkt, später dann angenehm über zehn Grad. Ich drehte meine Runde um die Luiseninsel, hielt am Wasser inne für Atem- und Meditationsübungen. Ein Schwanenpaar leistete mir Gesellschaft und gründelte nach Frühstück. Sonst nichts Besonderes – die Königin zeigte sich schlicht, der hohle Baumaltar bot keine neuen Überraschungen. Manche Dinge müssen nicht spektakulär sein, um besonders zu sein.
