The crisp cold cut through the air, but the sun shone bright, painting the city in golden light. With the holiday crowds gone, the streets felt almost serene. I took a long walk through the palace gardens, past the quiet waterways of the Charlottenburg shiplock system, where the rushing water washed away the weight of the world. At the Fürstenbrunner Graben, I paused for breathwork and meditation, letting the stillness settle in. There’s nothing quite like a winter’s day when it’s cold but dry, the sun warming your face while your breath turns to mist. In moments like these, the world simply felt right. And then, stepping inside after hours in the biting air, the warmth wrapping around me like a heavy blanket, hands curled around a hot coffee, it wasn’t just comfort, it was contrast. That deep, undeniable satisfaction of escaping the freeze made every sip taste twice as good.

Der knackige Frost biss in die Luft, doch die Sonne strahlte und tauchte die Stadt in goldenes Licht. Ohne die Ferienmassen lag eine angenehme Ruhe über den Straßen. Ich drehte eine lange Runde durch den Schlossgarten bis ins dahinter liegende Schleusenland, vorbei am Schleusenwehr, wo das rauschende Wasser den Kopf freispülte. Am Fürstenbrunner Graben hielt ich inne, atmete tief durch, ließ die Stille wirken. Es gibt kaum etwas Besseres als einen Wintertag, wenn es kalt, aber trocken ist, die Sonne das Gesicht wärmt und der Atem in der Luft tanzt. In solchen Momenten fühlte sich die Welt einfach richtig an. Und dann, nach Stunden in der klirrenden Kälte, das Zurückkommen ins Warme, die Hitze, die sich wie eine Decke um mich legte, die Hände um eine dampfende Tasse Kaffee geschlungen. Das war mehr als nur Gemütlichkeit, es war Kontrast. Dieses tiefe, unverkennbare Gefühl, der Kälte zu entkommen, ließ jeden Schluck doppelt so gut schmecken.
