The crisp air bit at my cheeks, but I felt alive, even while still fighting off a lingering cough. Sage lozenges were my silent sidekick, soothing just enough to keep me moving. Wrapped up and ready, I set off for a morning walk along the Tiergarten route, a perfect winter morning, finally. It was cold but dry, the kind of day where the absence of rain and a mostly clear sky feels like a small triumph. Along the Landwehr Canal, the world was still cloaked in darkness but the spectacle already started. Minutes later, as I reached Charlottenburger Tor, the sky was much brighter and erupted in color, a breathtaking gradient that felt like nature’s quiet applause for being there to witness it. I could feel my eyes widening to take those colors in as much as possible. A winter morning like this? It’s exactly how they should be, still, stunning, and just cold enough to remind you to keep moving.
