The week began in shades of gray, no rain, but biting cold hovered near freezing. Thankfully, the wind stayed mild, making it a perfect day for a walk along the Landwehr Canal and through the Tiergarten. I hadn’t taken the Tiergarten loop in weeks, and early December brought a charming twist: the beer garden I always pass had transformed for the holidays again. This year, they’d gone all out, repurposing old ski lift gondolas as quirky seating for their winter setup, complete with the usual ice curling tracks. After weaving through familiar paths, I paused by the New Lake for a few deep breaths and some meditative stillness. The chill clung to my skin, but the calm felt grounding. Then, with my face tingling from the cold, I headed back to the warmth of home, where a steaming cup of coffee waited.
