Someone must have flipped the switch back to summer last night. I stepped outside this morning, greeted by a warm breeze with the temperature well above 10 degrees Celsius and humidity hanging thick at over 90%. What should have been a peaceful walk through the palace gardens quickly turned into a sweaty trek. The damp air carried an overload of smells—from the soaked soil to the lingering scents of soaked flowers and wet grass, every breath was drenched with a bit of nature. I took a familiar path, strolling across the picturesque Luiseninsel. The statue of the queen stood as usual, except that someone had decorated her bust. It wasn’t the first time I’d seen this, but it still caught me by surprise. All these quirky details, made the morning feel like a gentle, almost dreamlike shift away from autumn’s usual crispness.
