ASUU, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, has made a significant decision. They've instructed all their members across the country to halt their services starting from midnight on Monday until further notice. This directive comes from Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, the President of ASUU, who communicated this message through a letter to the union's zonal coordinators and branch chairpersons.

This action aligns with the initial directive issued by both the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for workers nationwide to initiate an industrial action from Monday midnight. Prof Osodeke emphasized ASUU's affiliation with NLC, stating the need to stand in solidarity with Nigerian workers.

Furthermore, ASUU has expressed deep dissatisfaction with the severe economic crisis currently faced by Nigeria and its people. This sentiment was echoed during the two-day National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at Kaduna State University (KASU), where the state of the nation and the university system was thoroughly assessed.

The decision to collectively participate in this industrial action stems from ASUU's commitment to protecting the interests of Nigerian workers and addressing the pressing economic challenges faced by the country.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have made a significant decision.

They've instructed their members to initiate a nationwide strike in response to the assault on NLC President, Joe Ajaero. This strike is set to commence from midnight on Tuesday, November 14th.

The organized Labour, speaking through the presidents of NLC and TUC, has urged all affiliated unions of these labor centers to follow through with the resolutions made during the joint National Executive Council meeting of TUC and NLC.

Addressing reporters, TUC President Festus Osifo highlighted that this strike action will persist until there's a substantial awakening of responsibility from governments at all levels.

Their firm stance emphasizes the need for accountability and action from the authorities concerning the safety and welfare of the labor force.
