Wasteful Tottenham.

Tottenham had themselves to blame for coming away with a draw despite playing at home with the number of clear cut chances they had which they couldn't score. It was a game that lived up to its billing and was filled with all kinds of emotions. There were calls for red cards, penalties and scrutiny of the performance of the referee but all in all, it was a brilliant performance from both sides.

Harry Kane and Son gave the home side the two goals they got in the match while Jota and Robertson on the other end got two also for Liverpool as the game ended 2-2. City extended their lead at the top of the table over Liverpool who got stopped on their 8th winning run against Tottenham by 3 points.

Liverpool had an early chance which they didn't make to count in just over a minute of playing after Alexander Arnold found Robertson inside the box with a lovely cross. With time and space on his hands, he powered his header off the target even with the goalkeeper beaten as he was rooted on the same spot.

Tottenham had some half chances which they didn't make the most of as Liverpool cleared but another notable chance from Liverpool came in the 11th minute after Alexander Arnold recovered the ball and unleashed a lovely strike which Lloris had to save at full stretch for a corner kick. Tottenham also had a chance on the other end in the 13th minute with Harry Kane unable to fully hit the ball the way he wanted to and it was blocked off after a pass from Emerson Royal.

Not to be denied for long, Harry Kane got Tottenham off to a flying start after a defence-splitting pass from Ndombele found Harry Kane who had to expertly guide the ball into the back of the net in the 13th minute. Son wasted a glorious chance 3 minutes after when Kane broke through and found Son in the box. It was shocking to see Son flash his effort off target with the goal at his mercy after such a brilliant assist and effort from Harry Kane.

Son was a culprit for another wasted effort in the 17th minute after he exchanged a lovely pass with Harry Kane who sent him clear on goal. He was one on one with the goalkeeper but he fluffed his lines as he was trying to round up Alisson. Alisson managed to grab the ball off his feet and had he scored, Son would have been flagged for offside by the VAR.

Liverpool had a double effort in the 24th minute after Ndombele was knocked off the ball. Mane's effort was blocked off and the rebound fell to Keita whose low drive shot was saved by Hugo Lloris for a corner kick.

Tottenham's terrible efforts in front of the goal continued after Son was sent free. Son managed to hold off play to bring his teammates into the play and he brilliantly found Dele Alli inside the box. With the goal at his mercy, Dele Alli failed to beat the goalkeeper as his effort was only good for a corner kick in the 30th minute. It was a shocking miss for Dele Alli who got his first start under Antonio Conte this season.

Tottenham paid horribly for their misses after Robertson found Jota with a lovely cross inside the box. Jota rose higher to meet the effort and he buried it into the back of the net to draw Liverpool level, 1-1 in the 35th minute. 2 minutes after, Liverpool had a penalty shout waved away by the referee after Emerson Royal bundled Jota off the ball right inside the box.

Liverpool grew into the game and bombarded Tottenham. Mane had his effort go over the crossbar for a corner kick with Alexander Arnold's effort being blocked off but the notable effort was in the 42nd minute after Alexander Arnold delivered a thumping strike from a volley that came to him from a tight angle. It took the leg of Hugo Lloris to deny him and force a corner kick instead.

Harry Kane almost gave Tottenham the lead before going in on the break after his strike was blocked off by Morton. The second half started and Jota almost got a second the same way he got the first with a lovely looping header but this time around his header was off target.

Harry Kane wasted two glittering chances within a minute of each other. The first one, Dele Alli found him with a pinpoint pass but he was unable to beat Alisson who got a touch to deny him and the second attempt was a cross into the box which Harry headed over the bar from close range. This game should have been beyond Liverpool but Tottenham were wasteful.

Tottenham had a penalty shout with a foul on Dele Alli in the box but the referee waved play on because he felt it was a slight touch and it wasn't long when Liverpool managed to get ahead for the first time in the game after Alexander Arnold's flash across goal was powered home into the back of the net from the head of Robertson in the 70th minute after an initial goalmouth scramble and save from Lloris. Tottenham had a shout for handball from Salah before the goal but VAR found no maliciousness in it.

Tottenham allowed Liverpool's lead to last only 4 minutes after a defence-splitting pass was aimed at Son. He charged at the ball but Alisson came off his lines only to miss the ball and Son stroked the ball into the empty net. Liverpool were reduced to 10 men after Robertson received a straight red card for his lunge at Emerson Royal. The referee initially gave a yellow card but after a side monitor review, the referee changed his mind and gave a red card which was the first red card for a Liverpool player in 2 years.

Liverpool held on, Tottenham couldn't add to their goals despite Liverpool who played with 10 men. It was an amazing match filled with emotions and it ended 2-2.

As a Spurs fan it was definitely disappointing to miss those chances but in general what a great game!

I was really rooting for Tottenham for the game. Liverpool would have been hammered if those chances were converted as it would have settled Tottenham more but indeed, what a game! Totally lived up to the billing. I enjoyed it.
