Liverpool's perfect record in the Champions League continues as they put Porto to a 2-0 defeat at Anfield. Liverpool has now won all their 5 games in the Champions League gathering a total of 15 points to sit pretty at the top of the standings.

It was a wonderful performance from the home side as they got the needed result despite sealing their qualifications with 2 games to spare before now. They coast to a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Thiago Alcantara and Mo' Salah. Despite the loss, Porto still sits second in the group, a point better than AC Milan and Atletico Madrid who both have 4 points.

Porto thought it would be an easy game with a much-changed Liverpool side and Matip almost gave away an own goal in the 7th minute after the cross into the box came off him. Evanilson was also played in and if not for the pressure from Kanoute, he might have had a proper shot at goal to give Porto hope.

Porto wasted their early dominance and another costly miss came in the 12th minute after Diaz found Otavio inside the box and with the goal at his mercy, he put his effort wide, shockingly. Liverpool also had two half chances with Kanoute's tame header and Mo' Salah's weak shot after the goalkeeper fumbled his clearance and the ball came to him inside the box. His shot lacked power so the goalkeeper easily gathered it.

In the 37th minute, Mane thought he had given Liverpool the lead when Thiago's pass picked him out as he raced through on goal. He slotted his effort into the back of the net with ease but VAR picked him for offside.

Liverpool showed terrible defending in the 49th minute after they failed to properly deal with a scramble inside the box and Uribe managed to get the ball, turned and failed to pick the target as he missed just narrowly.

The real moment of the game came in the 52nd minute after a freekick was delivered into the box and despite being headed clear, the ball fell to Thiago just outside the box and his long-range strike found the back of the net with precision and perfection to give Liverpool the lead.

Alisson showed his frailties again in the 59th minute after he allowed himself to be closed down as he cleared the ball into the path of Otavio. Otavio tried to pick out a teammate but his effort was cleared out of danger, much to the relief of Alisson.

Liverpool sealed the win in the 70th minute after a long ball found Salah. He exchanged a pass with Henderson before drifting into the box and perfectly picked out a corner for his shot as he beat the goalkeeper at his near post to seal the win for Porto. Porto would have themselves to blame for this loss after missing glittering chances but Liverpool showed quality and got the needed win.
