Get Used To This United Side.
It shouldn't be news anymore that this Manchester United side is struggling and despite boasting an incredible amount of talents they just can't kill games off. They score a goal and allowed the opposition to get right back into the game and this is a tale of another lucky United side because Southampton could have won this game.
United started well as expected but just couldn't find their rhythm afterwards despite amazing attacking intents. They couldn't get the final pass nor did they produce a moment of brilliance to win the game. Sancho scored to light up Old Trafford but the silence soon became deafening for the Old Trafford crowd after Adams levelled the game. It was another example of a United performance that we have been used to recently.
In the 7th minute, United started a swift counter-attack which Sancho did so well to get to. He managed to pick out Cristiano Ronaldo who also did well to beat the goalkeeper and his effort was cleared off before hitting the back of the net by Perraud in a last-ditch effort. If Ronaldo had gotten more power on the ball, it would have gone in but that was a brilliant effort to stop the ball by the defender.
2 minutes after, Walker-Peters did well to keep the ball in play from the near post and he tried to pick out Adams who slipped and was unable to accurately connect with the ball. The rebound fell to Ward-Prowse but his effort was blocked off by the feet of Varane. United launched another counter from it and Sancho went all the way but he was unable to get anything out of it even when he had the option of finding Ronaldo or Rashford earlier. It was another wonderful chance wasted by United.
Sancho got his first goal in the Premier League at Old Trafford after another swift counterattack launched from the boot of Bruno Fernandes. He sent Rashford racing on the right-hand side of the pitch and he delivered a good pass to Sancho at the near post in the 21st minute, making good use of the space he had and Sancho guided the ball into the back of the net despite the valiant effort from Walker-Peters to keep it out.
Southampton had a chance in the 34th minute after Armstrong tried a shot just at the edge of the box but his shot dragged wide instead. Southampton came close yet again in the 40th minute after Pogba's headed clearance came to Armstrong and he attempted a volley but couldn't quite catch it well as it came off his shin and Dr Gea was there to gather the effort smartly. Perraud also wriggles his way through inside the box but his finishing let him down despite his brilliant effort.
Pogba got on the score sheet just seconds before the first half whistle went after Ronaldo set him up nicely and cleanly but Ronaldo was correctly flagged for offside in the build-up to that goal.
Southampton started the second half better and got the reward for their effort in the 48th minute after Adams came from the near post to meet a wonderful pass laid into his path and he cleverly picked out the bottom right corner of the net as it came off the post into the back of the net to continue his impressive form after netting the winner against Tottenham earlier in the week. He scored in back to back games and now registered his 6th goal of the season.
Southampton wouldn't ease up and Broja had to stretch De Gea in the 54th minute after his long-range strike was pushed for a corner kick by the goalkeeper.
Manchester United had double attempts in the 61st minute through Ronaldo and Diogo Dalot. Both had chances at the two opposing near posts and they both went for power rather than placement and the goalkeeper blocked both efforts off. Southampton also had decent chances through Armstrong and Broja but they both shockingly missed.
It wasn't just Ronaldo's day as he got on the end of a header flick from Sancho but he was flagged offside despite finding the back of the net with a header as well. United had a burst of attacks and sometimes they looked clueless as they don't know what to do with it as their final pass always let them down.
Maguire should have won it late for United after Lingard won a freekick at the edge of the box. Fernandes delivered the freekick and Maguire got a header to it but the goalkeeper kept low to save it. Maguire struggled in this game as Broja left him for dead before United's chance and it could have proved costly.
The game ended with another draw for United and it doesn't get worse than this. Southampton should be proud because they have pulled off only 1 defeat in 10 games since the new year started.

Thank you.
and they got away with a red card and a penalty.
That was never a penalty anyway but with the changing rules about VAR, you never can tell. Maguire was really clumsy in that match.
Maguire was clumsy and could be a penalty and did not have to be. But Fernandes swing was a red for sure.
I totally agree.
