How I Visited The Historic Brick Wall of Arakawa City [ENG/JPN]
English Translation:
Introduction
It's already day two of the year 2025 and I have made a plan for myself this day. This plan was made last year of December, and I saw it from my official website of Arakawa ward. Something happened that I wasn't able to commit to this plan, but I have made a backup plan for that. Let me tell you the story of how I ended up in one of the tourist attractions in Arakawa.
Arakawa Amusement Park Brick Wall [Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Arakawa Ward]
Arakawa Yuen Brick Wall
My original plan was to go to the lion dance performance at Arakawa Amusement Park at eleven o'clock in the morning. I failed to prepare on the scheduled time but there's a second batch of lion dance at one in the afternoon. I started my travel at twelve noon, and I arrived there five minutes before the performance. One thing I didn't looked into was the entrance fee of the amusement park. For some reason, I thought it was a free entrance.
Upon seeing many people falling in line to buy for a ticket, I cancelled my plan on seeing the performance. I opened the Google Maps in my phone and looked for another possible spot that I can still see the lion dance from the outside. There was no such place, so I just left the area.
Still holding my phone which Google Maps was still open, I saw a nearest tourist attraction that I can go. Since I was already there, I started moving and followed the route suggested by the map.
In the early Meiji era, this brickwork was established because the soil found in this area was suitable for bricks and transport by boat and other methods was convenient.
After arriving at the area, no one was around there and the first thing I saw was the historical information posted on the board. The information says "The Brick Wall of the Arakawa Yuuen: This brick wall was built in 1922 to surround the Arakawa Yuuen Amusement Park when it was opened. A gatepost on the south side of the park remained. ".
I've been in the Amusement Park twice now and the history surrounding it made me feel amazed. I am starting to like the city of Arakawa more and more, and I feel like there's so much more to know here. While I was still there, I followed the path of the brick wall, and I was not able to reach the end point. If you feel like walking around the city of Arakawa, then I suggest you follow this path they have provided:

Afterword
I had many epic fail moments when I was travelling to the Arakawa Yuuen Brick Wall. I did not include all of it in this blog post since it will overlap the main topic. Anyhow, thank you so much if you have reached this part. It's still second day of the year and I hope you also didn't have any epic fail moments. That's it, see you next time! Jaa ne~

Wow! Didn’t know about this. Amazing history there! Nice job, Arakawa-ku, for keeping this wall.
I’m curious what those epic fail moments are though hahahaha
Yeah, one thing was I got on a wrong bus lmao
if i'm not mistaken, the amusement park is at the edge of arakawa and the wall is a block before reaching the park. wow, that part is scary at night. lols
Yeah, I have been there at night and the area around seems scary. There was this long walk way that I didn’t passed through because I got scared lmao
