REAL MADRID AND IT'S DEFENSIVE HEADACHE

Well it's no more news what went down at the Emirates on Tuesday, the 8th of April, 2025. A 3 nil humbling or embarrassing of Real Madrid. It's their joint heaviest deafeat in a Champions League knockout game.

After the match I had to check on an Arsenal fan, who I had told how porous Madrid was, days before the match.

I chatted him up telling him, the victory wasn't such a surprise and he replied saying– "Oh really? It wasn't a surprise?"
I became a bit agitated because, I felt he should have trusted my judgement. He's a Medical Doctor who also owns a Clinic and as such doesn't follow Arsenal matches as he used to do years back due to his workload.

Well I replied him saying–
"No na[an emphasis], if something is porous, what else do you expect? And that's playing against a very organised Arsenal side.

That's an Arsenal side that has the least goal scored against them in this year's CL. That's organisation."
NICE TO HAVE A DAY ANALYTICS ARE PROVEN TRUE. MADRID,A POROUS SIDE AND ARSENAL,VERY WELL ORGANISED.
NATURALLY THE ORGANISED ONE SHOULD TRUMP.

Headache

A Real Madrid fan acquaintance of mine was so disappointed with the defensive aspect of the Madrid team, and he has been for a while now, amongst various other aspects. Infact he started complaining the moment he saw the lineup about an hour thirty minutes before the match.

He said–
How I was complaining bitterly about another Brazilian, Eder Militao's loss of form after being hyped for one good season. He became a massive liability to our defence, and I am not surprised we played our best games without him last season and was more solid this season after him.

Then, there's the case of Ancelotti preferring to play a weak, inexperienced, and aged Vasquez at RB + another old and frail Alaba who is just returning from "ACL" injury at CB/LB than giving youngsters a chance to prove themselves.

We wouldn't have figured out how good Asencio was if not for Militao's injury early in the season. Now, his quality has been shrouded by the mess up of other players in the team. A complete disaster of a season from Ancelotti. Almost every decision coming back to haunt him.
END

Well Mikel Arteta had some cold feet towards youth too. Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri were drafted on rather reluctantly, when the injury toll on the Gunners hit very critical levels. Today he is reaping the rewards.
