A SWITCH IN LIFE IS POSSIBLE

It's one other sport I enjoy apart from football(or soccer). I'm reminded of quite a funny eposide now.

My Experience

In my hey days of active tennis, over two decades back, having been trained by a top-notch tennis school, I went on my usual road-walk, but this time I decided to do it along with 2 footballers of similar level of training with me. It was im the University and we were all in the University team.

You need to see me enjoying myself. I stayed in front of the pack(an enthusuastic roomate of mine also came along) effortlessly and increased the gap at will. I was wondering why they are not dogged enough to challenge me.

Little did I know, little did I know that, I had signed for what I knew nothing about. We continued to jog, suddenly both of them picked up the pace caught up with me and just kept going. I tried all I could to catch up, but the more I tried, the more they seemed to fly away, until there was nothing left in my tank, all I managed to do is to ensure I didn't stop aktogether- I just followed slowly behind.

I didn't also know that this was just a warm up for them.
The road walk ended in an amphitheatre location made of solid concrete. We rested a while and they pointed to the amphitheatre and described phase 2 to me. It was to run up the steps of the amphitheatre and jog back down. I think at least 20 steps.

Look, by the time I ran up twice, coming down was as if I would roll down and sustain bruises because I barely could feel my legs after running up.

I advised myself to quit and quit I did. [I only made sure I quit after that my roommate who joined in. I didn't tell you, dear readers, that he joined me to challenge me. I needed to beat him, so I can have some peace when we get back to the room.🙂]

Now the footballers were still at it, they kept ascending and descending that amphitheatre. Infact watching them, I noticed I had not gotten to nearly half the amount of times they ran up and down before I threw in the towel.

Make no mistake about it, I was a specimen of a very fit athlete, a dangerous guy in court, standing over 6-feet in height. I was a serve and volley player, so if you know, you understand that one needs big serves and quick feet for this.

Yet from that day on I developed a new honour for the sport called football.

So when I see Diego Forlan do this,I can relate. Yep the doubles game, isn't as demanding as the singles, but the man is 45 now, ordinarily is still not a mean feat.👍👍

I congratulate him.

The Switch

Similarly, life many times prepares us for twists, turns and switching. Just like the footballing discipline has helped him a lot in his tennis development, so also what you have in your hand now, could be a seed for a different thing you would be doing later. Your duty now is to be good at what you are do, be the best at it!

Anybody who watched Diego Forlan play football can not deny his profound attitude to work, he was indeed a very focused hardworker and that is why he played for big clubs like Atletico Madrid and Manchester United. Like I said, those tools he had in football has become useful one way another in this switch to Lawn-tennis.

A switch might happen for you too someday, your efficiency in the office working for a company might be the seed that will help you own your on company. It is absolute wisdom that he who is faithful in little, will be faithful in much and he that us faithful in another man's business, is qualified to own his own business.
Think about it.

"Work hard at whatever you do.."– the Bible says in Eccle 9:10

Best regards all.
