We are finding lots of this pink and orange glowing Hackmanite (sodalite) up on Lake Superior.

395nm Ultraviolet light required to activate… (Available below)

Hackmanite is a variety of sodalite exhibiting tenebrescence. When hackmanite from Mont Saint-Hilaire (Quebec) or Ilímaussaq (Greenland) is freshly quarried, it is generally pale to deep violet but the color fades quickly to greyish or greenish white. Conversely, hackmanite from Afghanistan and the Myanmar Republic (Burma) starts off creamy white but develops a violet to pink-red color in sunlight. If left in a dark environment for some time, the violet will fade again. Tenebrescence is accelerated by the use of longwave or, particularly, shortwave ultraviolet light.

Yes. I will drop them off for testing at the Earth Science Lab at the University.

If my rocks are indeed Hackmanite (sodalite) I will sell some since I have quite a few.

They might be something even more valuable. ???

The beach at our cabin on Lake Superior is covered in agates and similar quartzite veins running through the 3 Billion year old Lava flows and Bedrock that is everywhere on the East and North Shore of Lake Superior…
