Decent pace on a run I wasn't really trying to do well on
Sometimes its the days where you really didn't even feel like going running that you end up doing the best. This is what happened to me a few days ago when I had to really push myself to just get out the door to do the jog at all. I say sometimes that this is the hardest part about fitness. The toughest step is the first one right out of your door. Once you accomplish that the rest of it just kind of falls into place.
Now 8 minutes per km is not that hot of a pace, I am aware of this. It is actually quite a bit slower from my pace last year but to be fair to me I went back to focusing on weights around that time and got a bit heavier due to muscle gain. When you are heavier, even if it is a good kind of heavier, it is going to affect your pace negatively. There is an ideal size for distance running and my body is definitely not that.
I kind of laugh when I look at my splits at the end of some runs because I always end up doing the same thing. I start out above my sustainable pace and then end up slowing down dramatically out of necessity. The last km is ok that it was longer because I was in my cooldown phase at that point.
Even though it is rainy today, I am going to try to sneak a run in between downpours. Rainy runs actually aren't all that bad unless you don't rainproof your phone and headphones, I have broken many headphones (cheap ones) and one phone (not cheap one) because of getting caught up in the rain.
I always say that getting out there is the hardest part. Well done on the improvement. Keep on pushing.

indeed it is. it's been 3 days of laziness in a row for me. I gotta get those boots on and head out the door! The rest takes care of itself!

Once you hit the front door and turn onto the road is the hardest part and it soon becomes enjoyable so you have to ask yourself why we stop exercising. You do feel much more energized after a run. Great to see you keeping up the pace.
yeah, that's one of the crazy things about exercise. If I sit around all day and do nothing but rest, I feel lethargic... yet when I go do something that requires energy I feel more energetic afterwards. It seems like it should be the other way around.
