What a night it was in the Uefa Champions League, and as I expected, it was more than entertaining for every football fan. Yesterday, I gave my preview of how the two matches (Dortmund vs Barcelona) and (Aston Villa vs PSG) went down last night, and I was spot on with my predictions. The match that got my attention was the Aston Villa vs PSG match which was an epic showdown from both teams last night. PSG early in the first half killed the game but everything changed in the 34th minute when Aston Villa scored their first goal.

It was aura for aura between those two teams and before I knew it the scoreline was 3-2 in the 57th minute of the second half I thought Villa could actually level the scoreline on aggregate before the final whistle, but it didn't happen as PSG defence made sure not to concede a third goal which would have been turned this around for Aston Villa because they believed it they could stage a comeback after the third goal and I have to give credit to Donnarumma for putting up a good save at critical moments even though he conceded three goals last night.

Aston Villa did everything right but it was not good enough for them to progress into the semifinals of the competition this season. They fought to their last breath, but PSG were able to manage the game till the final whistle of the match. Aston Villa hopefully can make it to the Champions League next season since there is a possibility that 5 to 11 Premier League teams can make the UCL list next season, which is insane, and I don't quite understand the format used in giving Premier League teams this opportunity in European competition.

Dortmund vs FC Barcelona was another match that took place last night in the UCL, and to my surprise, it ended 3-1( on aggregate 3-5) as Dortmund were out to level the scoreline. FC Barcelona's unbeaten run in 2025 has now come to an end at the hands of Dortmund, but still, Barcelona advanced to the UCL semi-finals for the first time in 6 years under Hansi Flick. It is a big win for the club as they have gone through a lot of changes since Messi's departure, plus had major financial issues for over two years. It was really a dark time for Barcelona these past years, but now they are doing well in all competitions and are favourites to win the UCL this season.

FC Barcelona will face either Bayern Munich or Inter Milan in the semifinals on the 29th of this month. There will still be some matches to be played this evening as Arsenal will take on Real Madrid and Inter Milan will take on Bayern Munich. The attention that the Real Madrid vs Arsenal fixture has gotten over the week has been funny but intense as Real Madrid players are training harder for the upcoming match. It will be funny if Real Madrid doesn't turn this match around because all the hype they have made this week will go down the drain. It's going to be an intense match and I'm looking forward to seeing how the match ends. This is where I stop my pen, and thanks for sticking around. Have a good day.
