I have had a very intense week traveling. I'm very proud to have accomplished almost everything planned in my itinerary, but being able to do so has consumed a lot more of my energy than I expected, so I've had a hard time making time to write instead of instantly falling asleep.

I'm actually not surprised that it's been like this, I wanted to try to stay more active on the platform, but I think that will be easier on a trip I do on my own and not on a group trip like this one. I am really enjoying myself and it would be disrespectful not to dedicate the time that the friends who have come to make this journey with me deserve.

We are just now saying goodbye to Amsterdam, a city that turned out to be a thousand times more charming than I expected. I think I'm more than in love with it and I thought I would be a little the same here. I knew it would be a beautiful and enlightening visit, but I did not expect to be so comfortable touring it and so excited to learn more about it.

There are so many things I want to talk about this visit and I will do so little by little, but I can't help but mention the beautiful contrast of the architecture in the streets and the vibrant energy you feel walking through them. It's the 750th anniversary and the city is getting ready for a big celebration next month and if with this changeable weather we had everything has its charm, I can't even imagine what it will be like when spring is at its peak.

Cloudy skies and some light drizzle did not deprive us from enjoying some beautiful flowers, lots of smiles from the locals and a beautiful view of the canals. It was a real pleasure to have been here.

He tenido una semana muy intensa viajando. Estoy muy orgullosa de haber cumplido casi con todo lo planeado en mi itinerario, pero poder hacerlo ha consumido mucho más d mis energías de lo que me esperaba, por lo que me ha costado sacar un tiempo para escribir en vez de quedarme instantáneamente dormida.

La verdad es que no me sorprende que haya sido así, quería intentar mantenerme más activa en la plataforma, pero creo que eso será más fácil en un viaje que haga yo sola y no en uno grupal como el de ahora. Estoy disfrutando mucho y sería una falta de respeto no dedicarle el tiempo que merecen los amigos que han venido a hacer este viaje a mi lado.

Estamos ahora mismo despidiéndonos de Amsterdam, una ciudad que resultó ser mil veces más encantadora de lo que me esperaba. Creo que estoy más que enamorada de ella y eso que pensaba que me daría un poco lo mismo estar aquí. Sabia que sería una visita bonita e instructiva, pero no me esperaba estar tan cómoda recorriéndola y tan entusiasmada con conocer más aspectos de ella.

Hay muchísimas cosas de las que quiero hablar sobre esta visita y lo iré haciendo poco a poco, pero no puedo evitar mencionar el hermoso contraste de su arquitectura en las calles y la vibrante energía que se percibe recorriéndolas. Es el 750 aniversario y la ciudad se prepara para un gran festejo el próximo mes y si con este cambiante clima que tuvimos todo tiene su encanto, no puedo llegar a imaginarme como será todo cuando la primavera esté en su apogeo.

Cielos nublados y alguna leve llovizna no nos privó de disfrutar de algunas hermosas flores, muchas sonrisas de los locales y una hermosa vista de los canales. Ha sido todo un gusto haber estado aquí.

Westerpark

This afternoon, we finished our trip by touring this park. It is a huge esplanade in the western part of the city that has many outdoor art works, event or exhibition centers and a very varied vegetation surrounding small ponds and water channels throughout the park.

Although right now everything still looks very wintry, there are occasional glimpses of how beautiful the entire park will look in a few weeks.

It is a place where you feel transported to the countryside as you walk through it, but always accompanied by the sound of trains passing by. The entrances are well connected with public transportation and, as throughout the city, there are paved areas for bicycles separate from the pedestrian walkway.

At the east end of the park, just before leaving it to go to the central train station, we found several cherry trees that were in full bloom, giving not only a beautiful image but a wonderful shade, as well as a carpet of petals on which to lie down and look at the branches that formed a beautiful collage with the background of the sky.

Durante esta tarde, culminamos nuestro viaje recorriendo este parque. Es una enorme explanada en la zona oeste de la ciudad que cuenta con muchas obras de arte al aire libre, centros de eventos o exposiciones y una vegetación muy variada que rodea pequeñas lagunas y canales de agua a lo largo de todo el parque.

Aunque ahora mismo todo luce aún muy invernal, se aprecian ocasionalmente pequeñas muestras de lo hermoso que se vera todo el parque en pocas semanas.

Es un lugar en el que te sientes trasladado al campo mientras lo recorres, pero siempre acompañado del sonido de los trenes al pasar cerca. Los accesos están bien conectados con el transporte público y, como en toda la ciudad, hay zonas pavimentadas para las bicicletas separadas del paseo peatonal.

En el extremo este del parque, justo antes de salir de allí para dirigirnos a la estación central de trenes, nos encontramos con varios árboles de cerezo que estaban totalmente florecidos, regalando no sólo una preciosa imagen sino una maravillosa sombra, además de una alfombra de pétalos en donde tumbarse y mirar hacia las ramas que formaban un hermoso collage con el fondo del cielo.

When we left the park we found one of the old gates that gave entrance to the city. A huge and very well preserved structure that integrates in a curious way between the hectic city and its thousands of bicycles moving around it.

Then we walked through the downtown streets to the station, encountering many of the fun, curious and irreverent stores of typical products in the city. Lots of "vice" and fun everywhere as well as lots of sightseeing and attention from everyone.

I also noticed, as in all the previous days, the exaggeration of many food places. Fast food places that not only display flashy products, but also offer considerably large portion sizes of what they sell. It is impossible not to be surprised by some of the options.

After contemplating and laughing at a few things, we crossed some canals in the center for the last time and arrived at the beautiful central station, a huge structure with a fascinating facade. The clock, the chimeras and the whole external structure is beautiful.

Cuando salimos del parque nos encontramos con una de las antiguas puertas que daba entrada a la ciudad. Una estructura enorme y muy bien conservada que se integra de forma curiosa entre la agitada ciudad y sus miles de bicicletas moviéndose alrededor de ella.

Luego caminamos por las calles del centro hasta la estación, encontrándonos con muchas de las divertidas, curiosas e irreverentes tiendas de productos típicos en la ciudad. Mucho “vicio” y diversión por todos lados al igual que mucho turismo y atención por parte de todos.

También me fijé, como en todos los días anteriores, en lo exagerado de muchos locales de comida. Sitios de comida rápida que no solo muestran productos llamativos, pero que también ofrecen tamaños considerablemente grandes en las porciones de lo que venden. Es imposible no sorprenderse con alguna de las opciones.

Después de contemplar y reír con algunas cosas, cruzamos por última vez algunos canales del centro y llegamos a la hermosa estación central, una estructura enorme con una fascinante fachada. El reloj, las quimeras y toda la estructura externa es preciosa.

I have about three and a half hours until I reach my next destination tonight, Paris. So I decided to get my hands on the time and update a bit on the activity status during the trip.

We dropped a little bit the average of 35k steps to about 25k a day, it might seem like an insignificant decrease but it has helped to make the nights not so heavy when resting, by the time we arrived in Amsterdam after about 8 days walking with the same intense pace, our feet were screaming for rest.

As active as you can be in your day to day life, a trip like this ends up exhausting a lot of your reserves and although the satisfaction of accomplishing everything is genuine, my body reminds me that there is a limit and it is better to respect it. There is still half of the trip so let's continue with a little more patience, at least the cities we have left are easier to travel and many things in them are already known.

Despite the tiredness I am still very excited to continue showing these places to my friends who are visiting these places for the first time, it is a different way to enjoy the cities and it was, above all, a great first time in Amsterdam with your company.

Tengo unas tres horas y media hasta alcanzar mi próximo destino esta noche, Paris. Por lo que decidí ponerme manos a la hora y actualizar un poco el estado de la actividad durante el viaje.

Bajamos un poco la media de 35k pasos a unos 25k al día, podría parecer una disminución insignificante pero ha ayudado a que las noches no sean tan pesadas al momento de descansar, al momento de llegar a Amsterdam tras unos 8 días paseando cn el mismo ritmo intenso, nuestros pies pedían descanso a gritos.

Por más activo que puedas ser en tu día a día, un viaje así termina agotando mucho de tus reservas y aunque la satisfacción de cumplir con todo es genuina, mi cuerpo me recuerda que hay un límite y es mejor respetarlo. Queda aún la mitad del viaje así que vamos a seguir con un poco más de paciencia, al menos las ciudades que nos quedan son más fáciles de recorrer y muchas cosas en ellas ya conocidas.

A pesar del cansancio sigo muy entusiasmada por seguir mostrándole estos lugares a mis amigos que visitan por primera c z estos espacios, es una forma diferente de disfrutar las ciudades y fue, sobre todo, una gran primera vez en Amsterdam con su compañía.

Me despido desde el tren eurostar y espero no tardar otra semana en competir el próximo reporte de actividad. Chau!
