The New York Mets made a bunch of roster moves today as Free Agency kicked off.

Qualifying offers were due by 5 PM today.  The Mets did extend an offer to Zack Wheeler.  The QO is $17.8 million this year.  Players have 7 days to decide whether to accept it or not.  It is likely that Wheeler rejects the offer.

The team also added Blake Taylor to the 40 man roster.  This protects him from the Rule V draft at the end of the Winter Meetings.  Taylor was the player to be names later in the Ike Davis deal back in 2014.  He pitched at three levels this season in the Mets system.

It was also announced they claimed Stephen Gonsalves off waivers from the Twins.  He was a highly touted prospect as late as 2018 until injuries derailed him.

No word on the hiring of Beltran as manager? They announced that today. That is bigger news than what is posted here.
