A mistake by Piqué gave Paraguay a penalty kick by Cardozo and it is here where I see the importance of calling the right people even as substitutes because the goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who did not get any minutes in the World Cup, was key for Iker to save that penalty. After a controversial penalty by Xabi Alonso, Villa managed to score his fifth goal in the World Cup and give Spain a pass to its first semifinal in history.
