Masters 2023: LIV v's PGA, the grudge match.
It's been a hell of a year in golf.
Now we get back to the good stuff. After watching the Netflix series, "Full Swing" we got a small bit more insight into the plit witin the PGAtour and the desertion to the money tour, i mean the LIV tour.
Personally, I don't care that the players went. I think that the united states have at least as a bad a human rights record as an muslim country and would have a tough choice to make myself if i was given the opportunity. The same for Man U getting sold, it's not that big a deal who is putting up the money. It's what happens next that's important.
Anyway, tomorrow is the start of the biggest golf tour contest in the world and while the LIV players are no longer earning ranking points towards qualifiying. Some have already qualified through other avenues and a total of 18 have made it into the masters field this year as past champions, major winners and holding their top 50 spots form last year.
Fun times ahead after a lot of dirty insults from both sides since the split. there could be some fun in the groups, especially after the cut if we still have a large LIV contingent.
They have a lot of quality players on their tour and i expect to see most of them make the cut for the weekend.
There are 18 players in the 89-man field from LIV Golf, including four other past champions: Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson and Charl Schwartzel. LIV’s best chance for victory may come from Australian Cameron Smith, who won the most recent major, the British Open, and finished tied third last year.

It's gives us an interesting backdrop to what is always an exciting tournament anyways.
Looking at the odds.
We have the usual suspects at the top of the chart with a big question over whether McIllroy will ever win th ebig one???
Rahm is always a good bet and Johnston for an each way. He won't be far away. I also like Matsuyama at 40/1 for a place. Very tidy golfer that could see out the contest.
It's great to have it on the easter weekend so i'm hoping to see a good bit of the action later on in th eevening.
Nice can of guiness and maybe even a small whisky in hand, settled in for a few hours. Just need to distract the missus for about four days somehow.

I am curious how the atmosphere was during the champions diner.
And today we do have the game nobody wants to win!
Looks like they didn't pair the big guns of both tour in the same groups. That would have made those first 2 days extra special.
Looked pretty friendly bases on this photo...
Rumors are that Mickelson didn't say a word :)
Really... No way, how awkward would that be!
Man do I love the Masters!! My own game is falling into shape too, shot 84 recently with 4 birdies which was pretty damn sweet! Though it was a great opportunity to shoot in the 70s and 4 doubles and a triple really cost me and mainly down to some bad chips and puts, tee to green it was as well as I ever played.. Now for my picks....
Scottie Cameron 15/2 (part of sweepstake 1)
Rory McIlroy 12/1 (backed to win)
Cam Smith 20/1 (backed to win and part of sweepstake 1)
Justin Thomas 22/1 (part of sweepstake 2)
Xander Schaufelle 25/1 (backed each way, my biggest wager)
Corey Conners 66/1 (part of sweepstake 2)
Brooks Koepka 66/1 (part of sweepstake 2)
Bubba Watson 125/1 (part of sweepstake 1)
Cam Champ 175/1 (Backed each way)
I am looking forward to watching this as well as I have missed my golf and lost touch with what has been going on. The Masters is always quality and hope it will live up to expectations.
