This weekend we headed to Underwood park for a bit of an explore and adventure. We have been there before but never really had the time check it all out properly so today we did.
It was a lot bigger than I remember with endless sporting clubs and activities on offer. Softball, Cricket, Rugby, Bmx and Mountain biking just to name a few.
The water did not look that inviting. All the recent rain and local water run off left it looking a brown muddy color.
But everything else was looking pretty fine.
Australian Wood Duck
Lots of wild life and plants spread amongst all the sporting fields
This was supposed to be a close up of a Bee but instead of the bee moving into a clear shot it made a bee line for me LOL so it was time to move on.
Dusky Moorhen cruising through the water lilies.
Juvenile Water Dragon Lizard basking in the sun.
Some wild Geese strutting around like they owned the place.
Another Australian Water Dragon Lizard.
Who kindly moved to a better photo spot.
A vine creeping its way around a gum tree.
Tastefully designed information boards to better under the area.
The Wetlands Board walk prefect for a stroll to connect with some nature, we saw a small turtle but I wasn't fast enough to get a photo.
Australian darter birds high on a dead tree branch
Baby Dusky Moorhen chick.
Mirrored clouds on a steamy overcast day.
Australian Shelduck cruising past.
Home to the Rochdale Rover soccer club. I have never played much soccer other than in school sport classes but have heard this club is very well supported locally and have some strong, seriously coached teams.
Netball is another of the many team sports operating in park which is getting very popular nowadays. The National Netball competition is fast and exciting and is well worth watching live or on television.
A Meditation Maze with a nice piece of rose quart crystal in the middle.
Plenty of Play equipment for the kids at FUNderwood Hollow
Also home to lots of fitness groups boot camps, yoga and of course it has its very own parkrun. A free timed 5km walk or run each Saturday morning at 7am,
We just happened to be there on there 5th birthday celebration event.
The event was themed Anything goes Super Hero's, Lots of people got dressed up and it was great fun. Yes that is Caroline @consciouscat who ran the 5km bare foot and in a dress in 25 minutes 14 seconds. The fantastic Photos are by the parkrun volunteer photographer. I was testing out my Hive rising star game hat for the first time.
Finish line, On event number 221, I finished 21st, and a shoe shot Bare feet, minimalistic five fingers and the nike tempos.

Looks like a great run through a terrific park. And it was indeed pretty fortuitous for the Dragon to have moved to a more accessible spot for a photo... lol
