My Actifit Report Card: February 14 2023
Last night, we had a visitor! A pretty big storm came through our area in the early evening, but it had pretty much gone by the time we had gone to bed.
I don't think I was fully asleep when I heard a few noises, I pretty much ignored them as it sounded like a bird or owl on our tin pergola roof. Though I was soon jumping out of bed when there was a louder crashing sound into what I assumed was our back fly wire screened door.
It took me a few minutes of looking through a few different windows, but then I spotted a small wallaby had somehow got trapped in your 6 foot high fully fenced back yard.
The Wallaby was basically doing laps of our yard trying to find a way out and crashing into different things in what must have been a pretty different and scary environment for him or her.
I had a quick think, then came up with the plan of going out our front door and opening our side gate and hoping it could work its way out all by itself and back into the nearby bush and nature reserve.
After opening the gate, I went back into the house, then slowly and carefully entered our backyard. I have heard big Kangaroos can be aggressive in some situations, but I have never heard of a wallaby causing any problems, maybe because they are smaller. Either way, I didn't want it crashing into me, so I grabbed a broom just in case.
Luckily, everything had gone quite in the backyard, and after a full lap of the perimeter, I was happy that the wallaby had worked it way out with the side gate open and hopefully got to it's home all by itself.
We generally only never have the side gate open during the day, and while we are working in the yard and rarely see Wallaby's in the out of the bush other than sometimes at dusk or dawn.
We can only conclude that the storm and dark clouds had the wallaby some how sneak by us while we were out side in the yard and then I accidentally closed it in the back yard when we had finish up for the day.
I did not get any photos during this event, but we did see a couple of Wallaby's in the nature reserve the following day, which had me wondering whether one of them was our visitor. He is looking at me like he knows me!
My activity count was made up of a morning run, work, and an afternoon stroll.

I kind of wish we had wallabies here in the U.K. but then suddenly remembered that we do!! They’re in Scotland and the Isle of Man where nearly 2000 of them live! They would have been imported from Australia around a century ago for zoos and maybe private collections.
Wow interesting, I never knew but it seem the Scottish wallabies are one of the few place around the world where they are thriving, thanks for thanks pointing it out.

Yeah it’s really fascinating how it happened and they’re thriving thankfully on their own.
I was asleep! And it was such a loud crash! You did well helping it back out again through creating an obvious exit path. It looked so freaked out, poor bigger! !LUV !ALIVE
