Postcards from Thailand #58: Chocolate from Kazakhstan, Ass Jelly and Peppa Pig
It's been a very odd couple of weeks, so to start, no. Not a 'joke' headline. I've actually got a mate from Kazakhstan who brought me back some chocolate in a very dapper blue wrapper!
It looked nice but was a bit poor, one of pretentious dark chocolate bars with 70% cocoa and very bitter.
Call me a heathen, but I like my chocolate sweet enough to make my teeth instantly leap from my gums to their death and a minimum of a glass and a half milk.
Not odd enough?
So we were in Makro last week, buying stuff. Yes, we have Makro on Koh Samui and as in the UK, you're supposed to be a member but here they don't care. Anyway, then wife was snuffling about the frdges hunting for her favourite piss thin fake 'milk' when I spotted this lurking at the back of the fridges. Just before I post the pic, listen up middle class Guardian readers of the home counties. If it doesn't come directly from the udder of a bovine, it ain't milk. OK? Milk does not come from nuts, beans or anything other than a cow.
Square shaped, preserved ass jelly! Now obviously, this is just the packaging and angle of the photo, so to show you the full packet, I pulled it out...
Square shaped preserved, grass jelly makes just as little sense as the funnier 'ass jelly' so if anyone knows what this actually is, drop your answers in comments.
That's enough oddness for this edition but for one final random photo of Peppa and George sitting on the edge of the wife's new ball pool...

I met some friends from Khazakstan last year and I was fortunate to get to try their chocolate. I actually think their packaging is really great and the blue and gold colors make it look nice.
I don’t think it was bitter though.😄
Grass Jelly 🤣 , I can't stop laughing while reading your post. Does your wife like flat skim milk? Even I don't know their name because I am full cream milk consumer 🤣
You're my kind of lady. A proper milk drinker ! She drinks skimmed milk, oat milk, almond milk, anything except the real thing. It's horrible on cornflakes!
As for the grass jelly, its time for some investigative food journalism. I'm going to buy some next time and solve the mystery !
