Postcards from Thailand #41: Rainy Days and Sundays

(Edited)

The end is in sight! We'll finally stop the Samui-Bangkok-Samui weekly commute at the end of August.

With an overflowing appointment book and increasing waiting list, the time is now.

Despite the security of the work, I will be sad to leave permanently. Living on an island, albeit one with most everything you could need, is still a long way removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. The island is much more insular. I'll get used to it in time, I guess, but I will miss people in Bangkok...and then there's living in the pockets of an extended family. I love my privacy, and that's a little in short supply.

Of course, despite my general grumpiness, there are a whole lot of positives. Fresh air, an incredible beach a couple of miles away and a garden and workshop I can tinker around in all weekend. There's so much I should be thankful for, and my reservations aren't built around ingratitude, just a deep-seated hatred of major change.

I think too much. Especially on a Sunday evening trying to catch some sleep on this bus as it splashes through the rain. Rainy Days and Sundays always get me down ;-)

Talking of rain, we have floods in Bangkok buy we still have shortages in Samui with the mains being turned off for 3 days a week in our area. Thank goodness we have a 2000 litre tank, me without my three showers a day is not good for anyone within 50 metres!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and I wish you every happiness for the week ahead. I'm just looking forward to seeing the sunrise on the water as the final leg takes us over on the 5am boat.

The rainy day shots are great, I think I should try capturing rainy day shots like you did. 😁👍

Thank you! Through the window the raindrops stayed in focus and the background blurred. I thought it looked a little different.
Thanks for dropping by :-)

Ooft, I can be the same with change even when I know it's ultimately good. Sounds good, despite the current water shortage but not from the sky situation!

Thanks for that :-) staying down here this weekend as its a 6 day public holiday here ! So pottering around the garden and doing a few little jobs, I'm back in the zone although I realised that the only free time I truly get is when I'm trapped on the bus for 12 hours! You can't win ;-)

Except we are like the wimpy little brother as we don't get typhoons or earthquakes here! I'm actually English so had never felt an earthquake before spending a lot of time about 15 years ago backpacking around Phils, when one night in a small hotel in Mindanao... lol...I shit myself and it was only a little tremor!
Thanks for dropping by and have a great weekend :-)

That was a neat read. When do you leave, did I miss that already? Love the images too. You're such a blogger.

I think I just like transparency. I like reading shit by an author who isn't embarrassed to show their friends in real life what they do on the internet. So, thanks.

Thank you :-)

We've been doing the commute between the clinic in Bangkok and the new clinic in Koh Samui since the end of January until we were sure we would have enough cases here. We're inundated by locals and expats alike but means that we finally have to quit Bangkok and say bye to the kids there some of whom we've known for 5+ years. It's a bit of a wrench but we'll stay in touch and some of them will come down to visit with their families so it's all good.

Beautiful home on a paradise island. I'm lucky. No complaints.

You guys have a wonderful weekend :-)

My previous @v4vapp proposal has expired. I have a new one which is running but unfunded right now. I'm still running @v4vapp and all my other services.

I've just updated v4v.app and I'm getting ready for some exciting new features after the next hard fork.

Please consider asking your friends to vote for prop #265 or consider unvoting the return vote.

For understandable reasons in the current crypto climate it is harder to get funded by the DHF, I accept this so I'm asking a wider audience for help again. I'll also add that I power up Hive every day and usually power up larger amounts on 1st of the Month. I'm on Hive for ideological reasons much more than for only economic benefit.

Additionally you can also help with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner

If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.
